Same experience here. The nature documentaries looked much better than the movies. Perhaps it has something to do with the camera used to film the content.

Either way, Netflix 4K and the 2500U were disappointments. I swear that Breaking Bad looks better on the stock One Connect box being upscaled than in the SEK2500U's real 4k stream.

Same with mine also. 4k clips via Samsung HDD using USB 3.0 are amazingly detailed and beautiful. Netflix in 4k is very disappointing in comparison. You Tube 4k videos have many different clips for the most part are very detailed and show off 4k resolution.

Just got my 55" Samsung screen. None of the HDMI inputs seem to be working properly - am I doing something wrong, or faulty set? Have tried multiple sources (PC, XboxOne, SkyHD), different hdmi cables (including some brand new expensive ones), and all 4 ports on the connect one box.

Smart TV / iPlayer etc all work fine - just seems to be HDMI ... setting somewhere, hopefully, maybe ... ??

Just replying in case anybody else has the same problem. I did a firmware upgrade on the TV, and it fixed it. So if you are seeing something similar, firmware upgrade first thing to try!.

Happy 4K owner - but no idea why the TV was "broken" out of the box and needed a firmware update before HDMI would work.

I would call Samsung for technical support.

Actually right now the max resolution I am getting from Netflix is 1080p. I have 100 Mbs Comcast Internet that tests fine but the uhd desert film on netflix won't sync up to 2160.

Comcast is one of the ISPs that throttle Netflix, afaik.

They must be. Last night the best resolution on Netflix was only 720. Bastards.

Hello guys. I'm not sure if anyone has any ideas on a problem I'm having but I thought Id give it a shot. Ive had my UHD55 for about seven months or so and Ive always been able to play videos from my computer upstairs down to the TV. And also I could play youtube videos from our ipad to the tv and also from smartphones to the tv. Anyways I had to get a slightly different modem from our ip to increase our speeds and when i set it up everything works but i can no longer play the videos from my computer or from my other devices to the tv. on my ipad when you were watching a youtube video it used to have a thing on the screen that would show the samsung 55 now it doesnt show anything.

I get 4K no problem on Netflix on a 100mbps Comcast connection. We watch a ton of streamed stuff. AppleTV, Netflix, Xbox One MS movies, Amazon, etc.

I'm watching the test video on Netflix right now and am getting 5800kbps in 1920x1080.

I found some 4K test video's and the TV reports 2160p. I used El Fuente 24, 50, and even the 60 played. I believe those are FPS. Unlike the other tests it did not show the bit rate. Is it as good as raw 4K demo material, no, but its pretty good.

Sounds like your TV isn't on the network/doesn't have an IP address. Can you use SmartHub apps? Is the modem also a router?

Thinking of buying the 65 inch now on clearance at Best Buy. Concerned about dropping down in size from a 72 inch DLP which I've had for 5+ years.
Had the store play their DirecTV source and a Blueray movie. Loved the picture even w/o full 4K. I have great speakers and receiver so cheesy sound quality of TV is not an issue.
I watch mainly sports on Fios and wonder whether it is worth the cost since I do not watch much else.
Opinions welcomed. Thanks.

Bob,
I had a 65" Toshiba DLP and moved it downstairs when I purchased my 65" Samsung UHD. New set has better resolution and 4k upscaling makes a very noticeable difference. I always thought my DLP had a great picture for a HD television (and it does) but IMHO the Samsung 65" "blows it out of the water!" I have Direct TV (Genie), Samsung BD-7500 Blu-Ray and a Pioneer VSX-44 AV receiver.

I feel my purchase was worth the cost months ago when I paid full price but if you are getting it for a clearance price I wouldn't hesitate. You will need the (2014) UHD Evolution kit to take advantage of the UHD standards for 2014 (USB 3.0, UHD/4k codecs, better processor, etc.) and that will add some to the cost (approx. $300). As far as the difference from 72" to 65" I cannot comment because both of mine were 65".

Mounting screws?

Hi, I just bought a UN55F9000 and am trying to work out what screw to use to attach my Sanus mounting brackets to the TV. The manual says M8 but omits length. I've tried a 25mm M8 but it doesn't catch at all, and when I shine a light inside the VESA mounting holes, I can't see any captive nut. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Need new cable for upgraded one connect?

I have a 2013 UN65F9000. If I upgrade to the 2014 one connect bid, will I have to swap out the proprietary Samsung cable? The way my installation was done ran the samsung cable through the wall, so swapping it out will be quite difficult. Thanks!

Better to use the new cable why don't you just tape the opposite ends together and pull the other end of cable through the hole you must have in the wall then just plug in as such.

For 1080P fine, for 4K Bad. Does not support 4K 60hz even with the new one connect box.
Not recommended.

Can you elaborate on lack of 4k support with One Connect Evolution Box? I am evaluating this for the future, this will involve a new PC or Mac purchase as well

In fact I am disappointed with F9000 as a 1080p monitor for computer.
Fonts does not look perfect and I can see multi colored upsampling artifacts around letters.
My Old Panasonic ST30 gave much better computer screen.

I also turned down sharpening almost to zero, before image was completely crap. Like every character was using outline font. Ive seen that in other Samsung led tvs as used as monitors, so I assume it is a Samsung thing.

I would recommend a proper 1080p screen if you hook up a computer to better match the resolution and avoid jaggies caused by imperfect up scaling/pixel matching.

A ue55f9000 owner claims he has achieved proper 444 chroma at 4K/60 with the 2014 one connect box, something no one else has achieved. It would be extremely interesting if someone could confirm his results with a simple test. Any video card will do as long as it can output 4K res at 24Hz. Many AMD and Nvidia cards satisfy 4K/24Hz, can be either HDMI 1.4 or 2.0 outputs. Test can be performed with or without the one connect box.
make sure you have the latest firmware, set the UHD colorbit to ON, use the DVI labeled HDMI input, and relabel it to either 'PC' or DVI PC and bring up the image shown here:
http://i.imgur.com/pSIbaB8.png
Left click the image to zoom it, and see if the blue text is as legible as the yellow text. If yellow and blue are the same, both clean and sharp, then chroma is 444. If blue is degraded, chroma is 420.

Just got 2 GTX 980's which fully support 4:4:4 color 4K@60hz. I'm about 99.9% sure I am currently achieving this with my 65F9000 with evo kit. I will check that picture however and report back. I've spent several hours gaming with it and the colors and overall quality are quite good, amazing is more like it. Not to say I have not encountered bugs however.

Two bugs I've seen so far,
1. Picture gets very dark @4K vs 1080P, default brightness is normally at 45 setting for 1080P, when I amp it up to 4k I have to raise it up to around 50/55 to get the same level of brightness (I don't loose contrast) so its just annoying more then anything. Why not leave it at 4K all the time you ask? Simple, running 4K windows desktop for a TV is problematic, yes I know you can UI scale but that also has issues with some apps. Simply adjusting the brightness is the lesser of two evils.

2. No audio over SPDIF @ 4K/60hz - Currently use optical cable out of EVO into a little amp. I have audio and works fine @ 1080P - Soon has the screen res goes up I loose all audio. I've checked the audio output, either PCM or Dolby, neither work. Again not a deal breaker more of an annoyance as I am now just using a stereo cable from pc right into amp.

I do suspect these issues will likely be ironed out in an update.

I get the same nasty picture on 1080p, never tried 4k.

Can anyone clarify if the Samsung UHD65F9000 can view 4k content from Netflix? I'm getting 60 mbps down from Bright House and my TV is hardwired via the Ethernet cable. I have my Playback Settings set to "High" yet I'm still not seeing the row of 4K content available in my Netflix app (built into the TV).
