i have a 40 inch led tv, and i expect it to last 2-4 years.
when it dies, i'm thinking about upgrading to a 2.35:1 setup (screen, less expensive projector, dvdo scaler)
and i was wondering my my room can hold a 80-100inch 2.35 screen?

pics of my current tv can be added, just ask.

How are we supposed to tell you if an 80-100" 2.35:1 screen will fit in your room if we don't know how big your room is?

I think you need to provide some more details...

I'd wait 4 years. Prices may drop and technological features will change. Probably before the dimensions of your room will. tongue.gif

ummm.. ok... square footage helps a little... but dimensions would be better. (if your room is 55' x 2' you'll have problems... but it will still be 110sq. ft. the same as an 13' x 8' 5.5" room that can probably work.)

Let's try this... A 2.35:1 100" diagonal, (you didn't specify diagonal or width), screen will be 92" wide. With that you have a starting point for how much wall space you might need. Of course then you have throw distance brightness calculations, ceiling/mount height, and several other things to consider before you can say if the setup will work. Since we're talking about 2-4 years in the future I think you will best be served by reading lots more in these forums and checking out the setup of other people... you'll learn a lot and I think you'll have no trouble answering these questions on your own when the time comes.

I've seen pics of custom 2.35 CIH setup's. so awesome, one of my dreams--but i know it wouldn't happen.
so, these are some of the basic ideas.

3D? no, gtfo.
Smart? NEVER.
16:9? must be 16:9
2:35.1? requested
max screen size--Width: 80 to 110, Height: 30-40.

also, can one of the dvdo scalers be used to simulate 2:35, but without the Expensive anamorphic lens?
are there any projectors that output 2.35, and are not too much and does NOT have 3D?

open to suggestions.
