Yesterday I ordered the Vizio 60" E601I-A3B refurb from Walmart. Today, Tiger Direct has the 55" M3D550KDE for $699 today (no tax in NY), which will end up being about $160 less than the E60. I can still cancel the Walmart order.

My seating distance is 12' and 3D is a nice-to-have only. Is the improved PQ of the M series worth the sacrifice in 20% less screen area compared with the 60" E series? Opinions welcome.

The difference in screen size is not that big a deal. The Vizio M550KD is the TV that I have and it really is a good performer. The 3D performance is excellent and is one of the main reasons I bought it.

Be careful, the M550KD & the M550KDE are not the same. The KDE has tons of motion blur, I had one & returned it due to that. What I've read is that Vizio dumbed down the KDE version from the KD version. Picture quality & 3D were good but watching sports or fast movies sucked big time.

eh I wouldn't want a 55" from 12' away I don't think. My theater room seating distance is about 9 feet, and we have a 72" screen right now and I'm planning on going bigger with it.

We just upgraded from an old 30" HD tube to a 50" in our living room, seating distance varies between 7 to 10 feet, and it looks great to me.

From a distance of 12 feet, a 60" TV looks exactly the same as a 55" TV does from 11 feet away. That's the difference between leaning back on a couch, and sitting upright. Not really a big deal.

Also, a 50" TV viewed from 10 feet is the same as a 60" TV viewed from 12 feet away.

At 12ft I'd for sure go with the larger size

okay n/m our farthest seating position in the living room is 12 feet and the 50" looks good to me. smile.gif

Of course that's coming from a 30" HD tube TV that we had for 8 years, so pretty much anything is going to look awesome haha.
