I also offered advice for someone on a budget, and thats not buying displays on release, but buying them at end of lifecycle once the reviews are out there. You are better protected in getting what you want.

Finally, I think you need to reread my posts because I said while I dont care about 3D I know others do, and once again, we are OFF TOPIC.

You are wrong:

As an aside Vizio will also show a prototype 4K 55-inch TV with glasses-free 3D capability. I'll have a hands-on look at that later in the week. And if you're interested in TVs that will actually ship, check out our write-ups of the all-new M-series and mostly new E-series models.

So thats your whole "lie" angle?

Like I said, you need to relax a little when it comes to CE products, this happens all the time. The companies decision is always bigger than ours and we have to deal.

Anyways, I have a way of making sure if you continue to waste time here, I dont have to see it, or anyone else that wants to keep beating a dead horse about what a CE company promised at CES and didnt follow thru on.

Hopefully this "R" series is what is promised, but we won't know until someone gets the 65" in hand.

Can we try and focus on the products that we ARE getting from Vizio in 2014?

Wether you want it or not 3d is not going to be a part of the 2014 vizio lineup.

Just so shed some anecdotal light on 3D, most consumers that I've encountered feel like they are paying for something they don't want. A lot of customers cringe (sometimes literally) at the mention of 3D as a feature. I think Vizio did their research and found out they could actually ingratiate their brand with customers by omitting a feature.

Exactly, as much as we like to "think" we know, the company knows more.

Works for some, doesnt work for others. If it doesnt work for you, you might want to find another anticipation thread or email Vizio directly with your displeasure.

I'm po'd at panasonic for leaving plasma, but it's either they go bankrupt or try and make "me" happy.

This is why, if I get into 4K now, I want something as a stop gap thats not too pricey, and its got to be an LCD. I still think OLED is the future, but I dont think we will get a good 4K non budget killer any time soon.

Hopefully Vizio and/or Toshiba offer a good 4K LCD FALD this year at respectable pricing.

Your anecdotal evidence may have paralleled Vizio's research/studies. As Mr. McRae stated in the interview: "instead of putting a feature in that people don't want we pulled it out"

I'm SO tempted to return mine and get one of the new vizios in a few months. The problem is my current set is pretty perfect. (Samsung F7100) No clouding when micro dimming is engaged and I love the picture. Plus it still supports my 20+ 3D movies I've bought. I always want the best for my money and if I can get full array or 4k for the same price, that's great. But I'm still trying to figure out why they are priced the way that they are. I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" and I'm waiting to see from reviews where the corners are being cut.

There will, without a doubt, be glitches in the new models. I am not concerned though because I am confident these things can be resolved with firmware updates. Part of the reason why the first sets getting released are these smaller entry level sets is for this very reason.

Always are. Most CE companies see us at "beta" testers...

Hi everyone, I'm new to AVS and this is my first post / question. I'm pulling the trigger on a 70" Vizio, should I wait till the 2014's roll out or take advantage of the upcoming discounted prices on a 2013 M or E70 during the week before the Super Bowl?

I haven't seen that they are really discounting the old 2013 models by that much. I would honestly wait to see if you can find one of the new E series 70 inch tv's somewhere.

I'd keep close eye because they could drop. I bought my last two plasmas in march of the year the new models came out. By buying at the end of the cycle I got some great deals. My 65" vt50 only cost me $2500 shipped. smile.gif

I agree.

I am one of the most vocal supporters of the 3D format and complainers about Vizio's 2014 decision, but I agree that it's time to move forward and focus on what they are delivering in 2014.

The horse is officially dead.

I'm also not as familiar with vizio practice so we m not as sure as she me on whether they will discount. The other issue with the waiting game is you might miss the last of the stock.

$1,950.00 for 70M

Since I bought it just this week if Costco drops the price again for Superbowl they told me that they would give me the new discount.

Hopefully they keep their word, don't want to go thru the hassle of returning and rebuying.

Nope.

Although I will say that their Dejudder is one of the least offensive i've ever seen, even at the highest setting.

That being said it has the most artifacts i've ever seen on the high setting.

Low or medium looks quite good., if that's your thing.

Good to know. Im not a huge fan of frame interpolation "High", but if done well (no stuttering) I can handle it in low aggression.

Thats what I'm afraid of, waiting and nothing being available in the 2013 E70's. Do most retailers (Amazon, Sam's Club, etc) offer price drop matches, if you find that the price drops within a certain period elsewhere, they'll match the difference in price?

Vizio has really caught the rest of the industry with their pants down. Hopefully this will be a disruptive force to the market. Looking forward to seeing reviews on these sets. On paper, Samsung cannot touch these sets.

The claims are there, hopefully the performance is. Some of the CES comments give a lot of hope here, and the Dolby display tech coupled with 10bit processing is very interesting. I've read reviews on their 2013 sets and they did well.

Yesssss! This is great. I was really on the fence about the W900A from Sony and decided to wait and see what CES brought. I was pretty unexcited by what most of the other stuff announced (that is realistically in my price range at least), but Vizio hit it out of the park. Although I would really like 3D, given that the 60" P series will be a FALD 4K at the price I was going to pay for a W900A it seems like almost a no brainer. I've gone without 3D this long and would much rather have better PQ for the 96% of the time I'm not viewing 3D. So the only piece of the puzzle left was the input lag for games as that's my primary use of the TV. Here's hoping those great results follow through the entire lineup of TVs!

One thing to keep in mind is that vizio doesn't as far as I know participate in UPP OR unilateral pricing policy so it's pretty much up to the retailer when they decide to drop the prices or not.

I would ask that you please refrain from characterizing the opinions of others as less than valid. Some people like 3D and some don't, and ALL manufacturers routinely show "vaporware" at CES...it's just that some manufacturers go as far as publicizing model numbers for products that they know they have no intention of bringing to market. Belittling people because they've posted something you disagree with is uncalled for. If you have a strongly-held view or opinion, please state it as such while acknowledging the rights of others to disagree, and move on. If you feel I have offended either of you by this statement, please feel free to report me to the moderators.

It's sheer ignorance, Rudy. Vizio basically stepped up to the plate, they saw the competitive landscape and know that enthusiasts want full array local dimming in their lcds. The majority doesn't want 3D, but since this is the lcd forum and not the plasma forum, I forgot that picture quality can sometimes play second fiddle to features.

No belittling intended, apologies for that. I'm just shocked at the total lack of interest in what they're bringing to the table at this price point and the type of displays that they're known for.
