I don't know where the panels are sourced. I can only see who is shipping which models. As far as I can tell though, Amtran does make panels, and so does TVP. It's a little unclear about Wistron - at first glance they look like design/assembly, but this article suggests they produced panels; 2 years ago anyway.

Ah ok. I was just assuming it was either Sharp or AUO since they provided many of the panels for the 2013 models.

Has anyone done a professional calibration for the M422-B1? I had found some professional setting online and used those, but my kids someone reset the TV, and the custom 1 settings are gone. Now, I can't find the darn website. Thanks for any help!

I don't believe we have seen any "pro" calibrations as far as meters\equipment goes...Most of the settings I have seen posted are via Disk or eye....Until one of the major sites or someone with some equipment gets their hands on one, those types of settings will be few and far between smile.gif

It very well could be the case. I really don't have any way to know. I just see the info from the shipments, so anything beyond that is speculation/guesswork.

And most smaller sets dont get Pro Calibrations. Only the larger ones, people fork out money for Pro Calibration.

I was wondering why the 50 inch M series model isn't listed, are we assuming it has been dropped?

That may have been an oversight. I'm not really the curator of the spreadsheet - I've just added a few things here and there. I don't know of any reason for the 50 to be missing... Though I'm still puzzled by a 49" and 50" model with a $30 price difference.

B3 = Can't confirm with this method yet

Since the M602i-B3 and E600i-B3 are already available on Vizio's site, it could be that the commodity descriptions used by the B3 manufacturer are more cryptic than the others.

For all of the models that I could find in searching the last 3 months of customs import records, the pattern held fast with those codes. I have added a column to the shared google doc. Screenshot below.

Thanks for the additional sleuthing on this.

I believe the three manufacturers you have listed are all ODMs, not LCD panel manufacturers. So Amtran, TPV and Wistron assemble the final TVs from components including the LCD panel (possible already integrated with BLU, possibly not) but this does not provide any visibility into the suppliers of the underlying LCD panels.

What's interesting to me from the spreadsheet you have compiled is that all of the 60" and 70" models (E, M and P) are B3. We don't yet know if that is a 4th ODM or a catch-all (though your sleuthing should help us to figure it out soon biggrin.gif) but since the suspicion is that all of the 60" and 70" panels are coming from Sharp, it would not be surprising to see a single ODM taking care of the final assembly for all of these sets.

And in a similar vein, all of the 65" and 55" models (E, M and P) are B2, meaning Wistron. Since the suspicion is that the 65" panels are coming from AUO, it would not surprise me to learn that AUO is also supplying the 55" panels and possibly the hodge-podge of other 'B2' / Wistron panels as well (49"M, 48"E, 40"E, 32"E).

TPV is assembling a lot of the smaller E-Series TVs as well as the two smallest M-Series TVs (32" and 42") the only 50" 2014 Vizios (E and P). The 50" P is the smallest P-Series TV and the only model coming from TPV, so I would be very cautious about that product at least until solid reviews on the 50" E-Series and some of the other TPV-assembled TVs are in.

I believe Foxconn is making the 120" R Series, si it will be interesting to see whether the 65" R Series is also coming from Foxconn or Wistron (like all of the other 65" products).

Thanks again for your sleuthing on this - I think it is going to be helpful to have an idea which panels sizes of a specific 2014 model are likely to have similar picture quality and product reliability attributes.

Check your local Costco guys. Went to my local Costco this morning and they had the 2014 M series 60" for $1099.00! Will be picking it up tomorrow! Oh yeah FYI it looked amazing next to every other tv!

When the 55 M hits, I will calibrate and post settings. Cal will be done with an I1pro profiled to an id3 pro w/ chromapure software.

Baniels, could you check the port information for any Sharp panels going to either Wistron Mexico, Foxconn Mexico, or Amtran Mexico locations?  Maybe that would be a way to determine the assembler of the 60 and 70 E and M series models.

Also, do any of you who still have the packaging for your E600i-B3, E601i-A3, E701i-A3, and/or the equivalent-sized M series sets take a look to see if there is anything stating the assembly point on the box (like, "Assembled in Mexico")?

Cross-referencing those two pieces of information may allow us to find out where (and/or who) the elusive "-x3" assembler is or is located.

You know SOMEBODY will find either a complete Bill of Materials (with sources), an OEM agreement (complete with non-disclosure), or both, and post it on here!

Maybe it's time to stop.  Maybe we should just be happy that we can get a TV this good for the price.

Nah.

I don't see anything from Sharp going to Amtran or Wistron.

I do see some containers from Nanjing Sharp Electronics Co. going to Foxconn in Tijuana.

1 container on 5/15
2 containers on 5/14

Both of the above had a description of "Door Viewers (Door Eyes)"

On 5/8 there were two containers with LCD Modules in them. Each container had a declared value of just under $600K.

I called Costco Irvine and they don't have the M602i-B3 in stock. However, they told me that it's IN STOCK in Culver City and IN TRANSIT in Fullterton, Tustin and several other stores in LA and OC, so i'm guessing next week should be great. Although I was waiting for the M552i-b2 but I may consider the 60" because not sure I will wait for the 55"

I called Costco in Cedar Park, Texas and was told the M602i-B3 will be arriving tonight and available tomorrow.

Looks like Costco's are getting them this week. If Best Buy doesn't have them by the weekend, I'll be returning my M551i-A2R and heading over to Costco.
