My own prediction is for a price around 1/3 that level...

This was true of the 60" when they were taking order for the other two.

The 55" page is http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-P552ui-B.../dp/B00MA7DBYI .
It looks like Amazon has filled out a little more detail on the item pages than was there when they were first posted. My guess (hope) is that they are preparing to actually put up the real listing for these.

I saw that and pointed it out yesterday, in this post. It's also 120 Hz versus 240 Hz for the "normal" one .

They've added some "glossy" Vizio marketing stuff; I wasn't sure if that was new or I'd just not noticed it before. Now all they need is a little table comparing its features to the E-Series and M-Series models.

The -B3's don't have the advantage over the -B2's that they do in the M-Series; all of the P-Series models have 10 bit color. They're actually slightly weaker, having a little less wide viewing angle and 10W speakers versus 15W in the -B2s (not that I'll ever use the speakers).
Just curious, when you say 10-bit color do you mean on the processing end or are you referring to the panels? And where did you read this? I can't find it anywhere one way or another.

Edit: never mind, it's right there in the number of colors. Totally glossed over that.

I saw the 70" P series on Amazon this morning priced at $2599 with free delivery. When I reloaded the page is when back to "Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available." Really strange but they must be getting really close to accepting orders.

I personally have only lasted this long because of a strong interest in FALD and a desire for the higher level of tech in the P-Series.
Well that's most places not everyone and the ones that are may not be authorized resellers. The regular price is still quite high at 2200 for a 55" and I don't see much of a difference between it and the p series besides more hdmi 2.0 ports, higher motion rate, and different backlights. Samsung has already released sets to compete with everyone, including models without 3d I don't believe the p and the 8550 are comparable. I agree on the last part and that's where I think the p series will have a strong advantage, but the only thing that I'm worried about at this point is the upscaling.

I hope that it is true that some of the tech from the r series trickled down to the p. Atleast we'll have kind of an early insight of what's coming.

It was up for about a week or so accepting orders. It just recently within the last day or so went to its unavailable status. There are a few members who got orders in.

This same thing happened with the M65, it's listing will go off and on before it actually goes live.

I don't normally count grey market retailers I wouldnt doubt it will see a price drop after CES though as the 2015 models are announced and retailers try to move the 2014 models.

Has anyone seen anything about the P 65", availability/price? Amazon only shows 55", 60" and 70"?

Same thing over at B&H Photo/Video. These listings must be triggered by some sort of communication from Vizio with respect to upcoming released dates...

I believe there was another member who was tracking the shipments in this thread or the p series one. It could give a possible indication of how soon which panels are likely to appear first.

No entries for the 50" or 65" on any seller's sites as yet (they still don't have the 50" M on the streets yet, BTW). They may not be among the first models to hit.

Product allocations and projected ship dates. Very straightforward. The information probably goes to Amazon and B&H almost simultaneously, along with Costco, Walmart, and their other retail channels.

I believe the 50 or 55 (can't remember which) and the 65 were tracked as arriving in the US at the beginning of the month. It shouldn't be long before they are available on Vizios site.

If the P series is being released mid October, the R series probably won't see the light of day until the middle of first quarter 2015.

Sorry, I should have said based on the intervals between model releases, my best guess would be mid to late first quarter of 2015 for the R series. I would be very surprised if they released the R series before the end of the year.

Well THAT sucks! Actually, that would mean that a model that they announced at last January's CES wouldn't be released until after the following CES? That doesn't make sense and I would think they wouldn't want that kind of negative press...

We have to remember there were MANY more sets in the E and M series which allowed the much slower rollout. I think the p series will be available much more quickly as a full line. The full P lineup will most likely be available end of sept beginning mid Oct. IF the R series gets released I suspect a Nov/Dec release. If it's true that Vizio no longer will attend CES then release schedule will be on their terms.

There is a P Series launch press event scheduled for September 20-something. It's all very hush-hush and even the existence of the event is under embargo, but the word is out. At least one of our favorite members here on the Forum will be attending. By then, I expect most if not all of the P Series sizes to have been released. For the M-Series, there was only a straggler or two not released by the time of a similar 'official' launch event.

So expect all but one or at most two P Series sizes to be released and in the Channels before the end of September (from Amazon, it looks like the 70", 60". and 55" should all be released, so the 65" and 55" look to be the likely stragglers that may not be out until October).

At the M-Series event there were things said and/or shown regarding the Reference Series which were all under embargo (so we don't really know anything about them). It is almost a certainty that there will be another update on the Reference Series provided at the P Series launch event (and almost certain that such update will once again be under embargo).

imagic attended the M-Series launch event and imagic has been one of the most confident of a 2014 launch of the Reference Series here on the Forum. We don't know what he can't tell us.

I'm not going to make any prediction about the 120" Reference Series (and frankly don't give a hoot about that 'bragging-rights-only' TV), but I believe Vizio has demonstrated smart enough marketing acumen to be sure they catch the Holiday Shopping season with the 65" R Series. So my prediction is that it is widely available in all of the main channels including Best Buy and Amazon well before Black Friday. I'll go out on a limb and predict that the 65" Reference Series is launched before the end of October and certainly no later than early November.

When we hear any rumors about another hush-hush Vizio launch event in early November, we will have the clue that we need...

I agree with @fafrd although I'm not sure well get so lucky about the next event if it is under embargo. I think we got really lucky with the member who let it "slip"

The "slipped" information about that reveal event is very reassuring .

I wonder what Vizio will do next year if they don't announce their plans at CES? If they hadn't announced the P-Series I'd have surely bought something else long before now.

They'll have the same announcements most likely at the beginning of the year, but instead of the pomp and circumstance of CES it will be smaller events for the particular models.

So I'm hearing that unless we absolutely need a panel in the next 3-4 weeks hold tight and all may be revealed non too soon. Wow, from the LG OLED drama to the Visio P/R series drama is exciting beyond words. Then I'm not gonna play my hand quite yet

Yeah, I think those that have the patience to hold off until October/November could be well-rewarded...

Spoke with an amazon rep via their chat function tonight. Had to get a refund on my 54" sound bar I bought last week. At the tail end of the conversation I asked the rep if they could look into the estimated delivery date for my P70 and they advised me that it would be delivered "On or before Monday September 29th 2014."

I think this is good news? I will only miss a couple football sundays....

I think you are being far too optimistic on the availability and pricing of the R series. The holiday shopping/black friday season is for the E-series, maybe the M-series. The person who is buying the R-series is not waiting for a sale or a deal, it is not the market.
