They need to hold an event previewing what they plan to release during the year concurrent with or soon after CES so that people who are willing to wait for something unique that they're doing can learn about it (for me it was FALD in an affordable TV).

I wouldn't doubt that we'll see something of a preview in the beginning of the year. They may wait till after the at series is released though. The bad thing about announcing early is that people are waiting all year and get impatient .

If you announce early some will wait and some won't; some of those who wait might get annoyed and give up before it gets to market. But if you don't announce early no one will wait; some people will just wish that they'd known it was coming because they wouldn't have bought what they did if they had.

Very true, it will be interesting to see how they handle things. We might get a simple press release with 2015 models. I would expect upgrades across the lines, but you never know.

I know that if they hadn't announced at CES last year, or at least significantly before the other OEMs' announced models began to ship, I'd have probably ended up with a 55" 1080p edge-lit, probably UN55H7150; instead I have a P602ui-B3 FALD 4K TV for several hundred less than I'd have paid for the smaller Samsung earlier in the year.
