Best buy is showing a Sharp LC-70TQ15U HDTV for $2899.99 but it says only at best buy. I wonder if this is there sq model but with a different model number so they want have to price match. It has the 8000000 to 1 and with the price so close to the uq 70" @ 3299.99.

Thanks Bill, I'm enjoying it so far. The center of the tv, where the Sharp logo is, is about 1.5" off the glass top. The rest of the tv is about 2" off.

Can you tell if it's upscaling using the extra sub pixels. The pic's look great but nothing beets seeing it in person. Everything I read says it does. Thanks and enjoy..

I'm not sure I can tell whether or not it is upscaling but I don't know if the source material is good quality, the picture looks fantastic.

No the tq model is different then the sq. Sure it has a diff stand and bezel but the tq also has internt built in. The sq does not and costs $200 less. The uq's are much more because they have a sound bar and 12 mill to one contrast ratio.

What I wanted to say, I just saw a few hours ago the Sharp LC70EQ10U for "$1669" at my local store and thought the picture was awesome, they advertise it as 4K ready so I question the rep and agree that it was upscaling,,, and I tell you what they had this sucker sitting between 4K TV's and it looked great, something like in between 1080 and 4k, seriously I was blown away!! On sale for a couple more days and I'm thinking of getting it.. I went shopping for a Samsung and have never liked Sharp, but this will be my first one lol!

I own that set. Took delivery on 2/18. It's not 4k ready. It's just 1080p. What store? Great price. I paid $1,899.00

Hey sooergreg, you are right, I just called the store (Fry's) and they had the 70EQ10U playing the demo recording loop of the next model up the 70SQ15U, told me that they just switched TV's and left the demo loop on the 10U which left me a little bummed lol! I guess from what I have read regarding price though this is the lowest price around after searching the web!?

Try about $25. Electricity usage is not a reason to pick one over the other.

Abt has the Sharp LC70EQ10U for $2600 discounted down to $2200: http://www.abt.com/product/76963/Sharp-LC70EQ10U.html

If you picked it up for $1669, that represents a discount of 36% off of MSRP and puts it very close to the price of the 2014 70" Vizio E-Series: E700i MSRP is $1,599.99...

This is the second indication we have had that Sharp is 'sharply' (pun intended biggrin.gif ) discounting their new 2014 panels to compete toe-to-toe against the 2014 Vizio lineup across the entire product range...

Waiting the Vizio M series if it turns out to be better ( 80" my list ) .. the E with blooming and some other stuff is not a good sign for M with 32 zones ( IMHO )
And somehow P s with 64 zones is not that promising .. but it will jump over sharp UQ definitely .

wgnziz, Thanks for that info....May have to make some speaker shifts, mainly the center speaker....one or two inches not enough room if I sit it on my old Barzilay cabinets. I have a wall mount but will probably have to move it...So this info is important to me..Doing measurements to have the set at eye level...Not a problem with my Panasonic 50" Plasma but these LED/LCD sets are more critical on viewing angle and height of eye for center screen...So thanks again for taking the time to respond about for those pictures and measurement info bits...Pictures look great from your set...Bill

For those of you getting new sets, I thought I would share my experience with finding a new TV Stand to match my new LC-70EQ10U.

I ended up going with the following:

Innovex TPT65G29 - 65" ( Also comes in 52", 58", 73" and 83" widths )

Pro's:

- Beautiful Gloss Black powder coated finish that matches the piano black bezels of my set

- Three heavy tempered glass shelves, painted black on underside to make the top of the shelf look black. Lower shelves are maybe 3/16" tempered glass, and the top shelf is a VERY heavy 3/8" tempered glass.

- Good wire management system with easy access from all sides

- Very easy assembly

- Size is perfect. Stand is 65" wide, and TV is approx 63" wide, so there is only a 1" gap to end of stand on both sides.

- Affordable. biz chair.com has for $184.99. Amazon.com has for $203.99.

Con's:

- Shelf height at 8" is a little shallow if you have a tall high end receiver. My receiver is 7 1/2" tall and barely fits, but it fits.

- Black shelves show dust more easily. Just dust more often :)

Just to be clear Bill, the tv is currently mounted to a swivel mount that is part of the a/v stand. I am not using the stand included with the tv.

I know you said my bad but I'd like you to spell out your opinion a little bit more. Do you mean the Vizio is a better value or or are you talking about quality? My opinion of Vizio has always been that it's a budget set and I've never seen a setup to change my mind as far as pq goes. I'd rather spend an extra 1-2k and have something nice to look at.

The guy at best buy told me yesterday that they should have the lc-70uq17u in on march the 13th. Even though it is on the web site it gives me a delivery day of the 14th. They had a good close out price on the 857 but they had none left in the store or the warehouse.
