Fabulous. Any thoughts on the 2015 line, whilst I wait on the 2105 news?

Mits 73835, Denon X4000, Emotiva UPA5 (triggered), Wharfedale Pacific Evo 40s, CS, 10s, the internet, a NAS drive, a TiVo Series 3 and an Oppo 103 (bye bye PS3). There's also a Wii, but we don't talk about that...

I'll be at CES in two weeks and will let you know. I can tell you that the LC-70UD27U and LC-60UD27U have only in the past month or so been shipping in quantity (my distributor received its first shipment just last week), due to a slowdown in the movement of goods through West Coast ports as a result of a dock workers strike/slow down there. Those models are likely to be the mainstay of Sharp's 4K product offerings for months to come, and, in my opinion, are a very worthy addition to their line-up.

Easy to check -- just go to the Advanced menu and see if Film Mode
is grayed our or not. If it is, you can't adjust it.
My new UQ17U allows far fewer adjustments of the 3D settings than
my old 845U did, but I think Film Mode is still adjustable...

I checked my set and the Advanced menu is unavailable in 3D.
There is no way to know whether the effect is on or off because
there is no display of the function available.
I use the Film Mode in Advanced mode for non-3D viewing and
have no problem with the effect. It has no effect at all on normal
video signals. It only kicks in at slow frame rates, like 24 fps movies.
Where did you hear that the 3D feature uses the effect?...

What happens when you plug the q+ to a pc?

Is 4k a selectable resolution for the video card?

It's been a while since I heard this discussion, but I think 4K signals are handled up to 30 fps.

OK, thanks! I had an LC70845U model that allowed a lot more adjustments to
the 3D picture. Maybe they learned from experience to not give too much control
over the picture to the consumer because the illusion can be easily ruined with the
wrong settings. The Film Mode works extremely well on the LC70UQ17U, without
glitches and without loss of detail. It gives an uncanny sense of reality -- much like
the Lord of the Rings movies did in theaters, with their higher frame rate.
I have never noticed the effect in 3D, but I'm used to the effect in 24 fps sources.
Thanks again for the info!
