Would certainly like to update but when I check Microcenter the LC70UQ17U is shown as 'This product is no longer available' - was that in the store?

assuming Microcenter was making a profit at $1499

I guess there is a LOT of profit in that TV

just like the LG OLED that was $1200 more at other places

OK, so it sounds like a new 2014 Flagship - I'll update the lead post.

.. am rethinking the idea of purchasing my next set in 4K; happened upon a site (also at Cnet) that common distance to 'resolve' the picture of a 4K set is ~ 9ft .. since I'll be sitting ~ 13-14ft from a proposed 65" HDtv, then I'll probably find a quality 1080p and save some $$ .. unless, of course, the price differential is minimal, 4K vs 1080p.

Maybe I'm over analyzing this .. would appreciate any thoughts.

You should still be able to see a slight difference in resolution of 65" even at those distance, but the more important thing you will be able to see is the wider color gamut and higher dynamic range that often only come with buying the new 4K displays.

^^ .. thanks for that info sytech; I recall, when researching my plasma purchase some 6 years ago, that carltonbale.com had a graphic that showed distances dependent on HD set size, both 720 & 1080p. Believe 9ft was used by many as the 'standard' for 1080p, therefore I descided on a 720p (50" plasma) because of 'my' ~13ft distance .. well, now am looking at a larger (65" is probably Max; wall mount/room avail) HDtv. Given your response, I think the 4K "will be" the nicer picture overall.

thanks again. : )

also keep in mind sometimes those calculators give the min distance based on 20/20 vision. everyone's eyes are different some will see the difference some wont. the point of the chart is to really give a distance at which you will see that particular full resolution, IMO its nothing to really worry about if you can see the difference that's all that matters.

^^ .. appreciate that Rf13; as I slowly approach the 60yr mark, am optimistic I can retain 20/20 vision; there's pills & a T-shot for the rest (lol)!! thank-you!!

^^ .. if directed my way, no .. not really interested, though top quality, am not a 3D person and the price is abit more than I have planned.

if not the JVC 65" 4k model, then it'll probably be Vizio's 65"er; would be extremely interested in side-by-side.
