Delivery Confirmations

Did you get a phone call from the delivery carrier to schedule a specific delivery date and time, or did you just receive an email with tracking information. Thanks!!
I received an email from the shipping company (homedelivery@pilotdelivers.com) just after midnight today defining the delivery date and time frame. No response to the email is required...Signature is required - so make sure you are home. The email also discusses that the shipper will move the TV to your desired location, and insure that it receives power and that the panel is not broken and take the box away if you desire. Contact information to adjust the delivery time and date is included in the email.

Hope this helps!

The 55" and 65" are likely from AUO and are not using IGZO backplane.
I would take power use ratings with a grain of salt. My 80" sharp was rated at 390W maximum. After plugging it into a Wattmizer, the highest reading I could get was 300W. After setting it up and reducing the backlight to a comfortable level, the reading plunged to about 120W.
The LED backlight is by far the biggest contributor to power needed to run these types of sets.
As memory serves me, my 1987 Sony 27" CRT used about the same power - How far we've come!

One more quick question. When did you place your Amazon order? Knowing that will give me a better idea when I can expect my shipping email to arrive.

Not yet but I'm chomping at the bit. Nothing at Costco.ca or BB.ca or FutureShop.ca.
The Vizio.ca doesn't even show the P series yet. Only the M and E series. I suspect it will only be a few more days (I Hope!)
With Vizio now officially in Canada I'm wondering if I popped down to Costco in Bellingham, WA and bought a set there, would I be able to get it serviced/replaced in Canada.
I bought a Sony Blu-Ray player from B&H in New York a couple of years ago and had a small problem. I phoned Sony and they said "No Problem. Your warranty is valid in Canada". I hope it's the same for Vizio. Would love to find out!!

be interested to see what out of the box color accuracy and gray scale looks like on these sets as well as what a calibration can do for them!

Order Date was August 14th 2014. I received a email and text yesterday stating that the order ship date was earlier than originally expected (around October 16th), then a amazon shipping confirmation email, and then a email from the shipper. You should definitely have good communication just before they reach out to you.

OK. That should translate into an email confirming shipping sometime tomorrow evening. Looking forward to it. Thanks again!!

Just went on Live Chat with Vizio.Ca and here is the conversation with Vizio rep Stormi:

Me: I'm glad to hear Vizio is now officially distributed in Canada. If I buy a Vizio TV in the States will the warranty be valid in Canada?

Stormi: Just a moment...

Sorry for the delay. We're working on getting to you as quickly as possible. If you need to run, please feel free to leave us a message
Stormi:
I am happy to see that you are considering becoming a VIZIO customer!! In order to be covered under warranty for your VIZIO TV, the TV must be purchased in Canada if you live in Canada. If you live in the United States the TV must be purchased in the United States.

Me: Thank you. A little disappointed but I understand. My Sony Blu-Ray player was purchased in USA and I had NO problem getting warranty service in Canada. Maybe Vizio should reconsider.

Stormi: I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. I will forward your feedback to the appropriate departments.
Do you have any other questions for me at this time?

Me: No, thank you for the prompt reply.

WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL REALLY HAPPEN WHEN SOMEONE BUYS A SET IN THE STATES AND BRINGS IT BACK TO CANADA.

I PHONED COSTCO AS WELL. THEY SAID IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH A TV BOUGHT AT COSTCO IN THE STATES YOU HAVE TO BRING IT BACK THERE FOR SERVICE. YOU CANNOT TAKE IT TO A CANADIAN COSTCO. I ONLY LIVE ABOUT 45 MINUTES AWAY FROM BELLINGHAM WA, SO IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL TO ME BUT IT MAY BE A DEAL BREAKER FOR OTHERS FURTHER AWAY.

HDMI 2.0a?

I haven't been able to find an answer to this, but the specs don't list the bandwidth for the single HDMI 2.0 port on these TVs. Do you suppose it's 2.0b (only 10gbps) port or full blown 2.0a (18gbps)?

Nothing I can find lists the specifics of the supported resolutions, bit depth, and refresh. If it supports 4k@60hz@4:4:4 then we would know if it's 2.0a or not.

This is bizarre. I'm glad because I'm planning on picking up a 50" B1, but I was more than ready to pay $1100.

Since the B1E seems to be a lower model. Maybe they will sell it for $799-$899 or something.

The b1e is 8bit whixh means it will have enough bandwidth for 4:4:4. b1's 10bit panel only has enough for 4:2:2. A compromise for both models.

These various P series threads are driving me crazy.

Can you tell me what are differences between the B1E and the B1?

If you do a search for B1E in this thread it has been discussed quite a bit. Please see this post for the "main" differences

Has anyone ordered the 50" B1 from Amazon (they are offering 2% rewards)?

Ship date though says third week in October which seems far fetched.

In what way? It was months before the 50" M-Series shipped after they made the "M-Series is here!" PR. It's notable that though they're taking orders for the 50" P at their site, it doesn't say "Pre-Order: Item will ship within 30 days" like the other models. They make no claim as to when it will ship.

The 50 B1E, 55, 60 and 70 inch sets are in stock either on Amazon or in store.

The release event is what, tomorrow or Thursday? Why would the B1 incur a 3-4 week delay over the other sets? Just doesn't make sense to me.

Can someone let us know what the release date is then of the B1 50" after the event? I find it hard to believe they are going to release every model except the 50" one. WTF?!

"Fall" I don't think Vizio does release dates. The 50" has always been one of the last models released.

Mark,

Not sure if you've been keeping an eye on the owners thread, but if you get a chance could you ask these questions?

1) Will there be a firmware update to allow for manual checking of firmware updates (currently its either you have full internet on or none at all).

2) Are they able to and will they update the Local Dimming Algorithm ? We have multiple reports across the series of it not working correctly (E series) or being slow\not precise enough (M\P). I think this is more to see how willing they are to listen to the community since they are under a big microscope especially with the more advanced members in forums like this.

3) This is one of the more nitpicking. For all of their sets so far (E\M\P) owners are unable to save 11pt GS for individual "Custom Picture Settings" unless they use a different "Picture Mode" (ie 1 setting for Vivid, 1 settting for Standard). If they sue the same Picture mode then the 11pt\advanced settings will carry over to the new Custom Picture Mode, and any changes would be made "global" to all of the CPM (Custom Picture Modes) that have the same "Picture Mode".

I am sure there are other questions that will want to be asked, as owners have been reporting back and there have been some anomalies with regards to QA of panels and calibration. Not sure this thread gets much action now that the Owners thread is up.

Please find out which panels (IPS or VA) the various screen sizes have. I calibrated a 55" IPS and MLL is high.

Thanks, looking forward to it. Not sure if you have looked through the owners thread but so far we have some complaints with really low contrast levels (bad blacks), some color accuracy issues and each size having a different panel leading to different picture qualities throughout the whole line.

Seems like a very inconsistant line that so far, no matter what size panel is not living up to the hype and marketing that Vizio has pushed on us. Some are even saying the E series was testing with better contrast levels then the P.
