Anyone know if the speakers are optional on the 65"? I already have my own sound equipment and I don't want to pay a markup on something I won't need. Disappointed enough there is no 3d, both combined may be a deal breaker

They are reportedly removable but not optional. However, no official release so who knows. I'm probably going with Panasonic CX850U if we don't hear anything about the R by the time it's available.

Are you guys aware Vizio showed this TV in April in New York City?? There were three 65" and one 120". For comparison there were also a Plasma and a HU8550. The purpose reportedly was to "showcase HDR with Dolby Vision".

The person who saw it wasn't impressed, but he is a Samsung fan, not Vizio.

Free, abundant OTA television separates this country from many others. ATSC1 has only been in force since 2009. The wireless industry has enough spectrum. Enough of 'planned obsolesce'.

I don't care how many times they show prototypes. Until it's actually released and available I won't believe it's a real product. I have been waiting 2 years for this. The only reason I haven't purchased something else is that there hasn't been anything I've seen that's better than what I have now. I think the Panasonic CX850U may be the one, it's supposed to be released in the next few weeks. If it comes out and I like what I see, I'm not waiting on the Vizion R anymore.

The point is, at least it was shown and it was more than one. Other than the initial showing last year, is this the first non show showing (for lack of a better term)?

well for some reason vizio will only give you information regarding the new reference series If you special order it now on there site. I think that is rather dumb than to give an open information to the world. I mean I don't even know if they will tell you the release date or price but if someone wants to try to special order it for us and get the info that would be awesome.

I did read back a few pages...what am I looking for exactly? Cause I only saw a video about dolby vision and that's all. I don't see how reading back a few pages helped in anyway from my last post...

Quote from Robert Zohn on blu-ray.com forum regarding R-Series:

"Had another conference all with Vizio today and we are not permitted to release the prices at this moment. I was invited to the official announcement conference will be in NYC the first week of October. At that time prices and confirmation of the actual launch date will be announced.

At this moment the "R" series in 65" and 120" are scheduled to begin shipping the very end of October or early November.

I have also requested a confirmation of some technical specs, e.g is the R series a 10bit or 12bit panel and a few other technical details

Standby for more updates.

What information are you looking for? They have product pages for both sizes. I posted some FCC filings and the manual for the 65. Besides the price and release date what else do you want to know? Help us help you

The 80" M goes for that much so very unlikely a 80" R will be that price if there's even a 80" R.

Within a month, we should have a release announcement that should hopefully followed up in short order with first R65 Owners and an R65 Owner's thread.

I'm the meantime there is the Reference Series Speculation Thread: Vizio R Series Speculation and Release Date

I suggest we let this thread which is now more than 18 months old slide back into AVS Forum Oblivion by posting on the Speculation thread rather than here...

actually that's a lot of info to know thank you very much. I really wanted to know the pricing very badly ive been waiting for this moment since the ces in 2014 and was sad they didn't keep there promise that the reference series would be out that year but ive waited so long for it. I'm aching to know what the price is to see if I can afford it and if I cant I can start looking at there P series instead but my guess about the price for the reference "65 inch" is $3000 I hope. I have saved so much money for it.

Not sure who those are meant for...this is an old thread and current discussion is happening in another one. The new pricing was posted a couple times there. It seems that was more for you....
