I just picked up a KDL-65W850A on sale over boxing week. Been setting up a whole new HT, so finally got a chance to get it set up a few days ago. I've noticed that there is a continuous sort of a 'ticking' sound coming from the built-in speakers. Maybe 4 ticks a second. It's not noticeable if there's something actually producing sound on the TV, or even if there's significant background noise in the room, but in a quiet room it's clearly audible 15 feet away on the other side of the room.
It sounds like the EMI from the TV's own power supply is interfering with its speakers. It makes the sound even with no inputs connected, and even if I set it to use an external audio system, so the TV's speakers should be turned off.
Anyone else have this model? Can you check whether you can hear the same thing? Or any suggestions for fixing it without hauling this beast back to Future Shop?
