Trying to narrow down from our final three displays, two of which are LED's. Looking for opinions on which of these two and why. 12.5'-13' viewing distance. Sunroom with 90% window coverage of walls. Day and night viewing. Color accuracy, motion for sports and contrast matter most.
Samsung 65f8000
Sharp 70le857u

Samsung f8000 has a native black level at 0.0400 cd/m2 & a ANSI contrast of 2,121:1.

Samsung PNF8500 has a black level of 0.0200cd/m2 & ANSI contrast of 5,447:1.

Between the two Samsungs, both have glossy reflective screens, but both have a better picture quality than the Sharp.

The Samsung LCD can get brighter than the Samsung Plasma at day, but at night you will have to lower the brightness way lower than what the plasma is capable of to get a comparable black level. The contrast will also suffer as a result.

Any info on the Sharp?

Haven't found any reviews with solid numbers for that model, but did find a review for a similar(???) Sharp 80LE844U here

The modified ANSI contrast measured 2571:1 after calibration, with black at .014 fL. The black level will vary with the backlight setting.

That's pretty good, but I'm not sure if that panel is the same as the one you are looking into.

I had the Sharp 70le857u in house for 10 days. I now have the 65f8000. No contest. The extreme bright room performance is similar. The weakness of each as I see it? The Sharp just can't get bright enough while keeping an accurate picture even though the screen itself is better than the Samsung's glossy screen. The Samsung, while having a less ideal panel, can get so darn bright with keeping an accurate picture. This is the first lcd I've liked as much as my Panny plasma, but this is better for this room. Oh, and $3k is a con for both.
