I've pretty well decided on purchasing the Samsung UN46F6300/UN46F6350, but I see that Samsung's new models come out in March. (I'm specifically anticipating  the F6300's closest 2014 relative, the upcoming UN48H6350.) Should I wait to purchase until the pricing for the new models is revealed? Do you think there will be significant price drops on the old models that will be worth waiting for? Or are there pre/post SuperBowl discounts that will be a better value than any price drop that happens after the new models come out? What does everyone think the price points will likely be for the new models, and do you think it'd be worth it to get the newer one? And when are the prices for new models typically announced?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I am in the same boat. I am anticipating the 4k Vizio ,but also would like to see prices for the H8000 and H7150 sets from Samsung. If you swing the H7150 it will have the step up Micro dimming pro found in this years F7500 and "real" 240hz panel with an ultra-thin bezel and the arch(not spider stand) found on 2012 ES8000. If you need a Superbowl TV then by all means take advantage of the 2013 clearance deals, but I am waiting to see what 2014 has to offer. Sony announced their MSRP on their mid range displays and since they began showing up on Best Buy.com at $200 less than on the official Sony site. I feel Samsung will ultra competitive on their mid-high range displays.

I don't think the new line of Samsung TVs will be drastically better than from last years, since they will still be edge lit.
In fact the black levels & contrast from Samsung mid to high end models have been practically the same for the past 4-5 years (outside their full array local dimming sets). With just small increments in improvements every year.

The new line might actually be cheaper than what the current Samsung panels are selling for.

Has it been common in the past for new TVs to start at lower selling points than their older counterparts? This seems unlikely to me, but I'm not sure where to find historical pricing data.

The F6300 is currently selling for $718.99 on Amazon and at Walmart. If I can wait a little over a month and get the H6350 for close to the same price, I'll do it. I imagine the quad-core CPU and newer firmware and software will be worth it.

There is actually a short review of the UN48H6350 here.

http://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/samsung-lcd-tv/samsung-un48h6350.html

They seem to think the picture quality is the same as the 2013 models. Also unless they are wrong in their review of one of the other sizes I don't think it comes with a quad core cpu.

TV's have been dropping prices historically every year by huge leaps.

6 year ago buying a 60" TV at the lowest price would have cost you around $6,000.
3 years ago, it would cost you $3,000.
This year, under $1,000.

So yes, TV prices are dropping fast year to year, thanks to our good friends in China. Who are the main culprits for this.

It does indeed offer a quad core.

Thanks, the site I linked seems to have accurate reviews of the 2013 and older models. It seems they jumped the gun on the 2014 reviews hopefully they update them with more info. 46 inch is the largest tv I'm able to go with in my bedroom I am surprised they cut that size and added the 48.

I am hoping the price will be in line with the F7100 of 2013,but from what I can gather from CES info it will have the features found on the F7500.

I was wondering the same thing. The 2013 Samsungs all had horrible input lag according the the Display Lag DB. The bigger Sony screens had less lag than the smaller ones, so I'm hoping the smaller ones catch up this year. The Vizio E series is coming in with low lag from some of the posts I saw here, so I'm torn between a 39" or waiting to see what Sony and Samsung do for 32" screens. I'd prefer a 32".

I was actually wondering this exact same question! It's looking like from the links people have posted there's only a few small changes on the 2014 models. It also looks like picture quality hasn't improved very much which is what I'm most concerned about. Depending on what the 2013s get marked down to, it may be worth it to pick one of those up

I don't see any mention of it having quad core there or am I blind?

Of course, if you care not about those extras, the H6350, like the 2013 F6300 before it, might prove a superior value to the 6400.
They both get Samsung's 2014 Smart TV suite, arranged around five "pages" just like the excellent 2013 version. There's one major addition this year: the Social and Media pages have been combined into one, and a new Games page has been added. Samsung says they'll include "lite versions" of popular game titles, and that at launch around 20 games will be available for download. For a controller you can choose either your smartphone or tablet, or the included remote. Powering all those brains is a quad-core processor

Oh lmao I need to get my eyes checked soon then. I'm guessing it must be to help with displaying two things at a time in the smart hub.

Can't find anything on 2014 pricing yet. But I went ahead and bought the UN46F6300 from Walmart since they have a 90-day return policy vs Amazon's 30-day returns. The corners of the display are kind of dim on my set, so I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it, especially if the pricing is right on the 2014 models.

As a side-note, I think it's weird that someone would take the content of my post here and put it up (supposedly attributed to me) on a really crappy WordPress site apparently just for the advertising money it might generate:

ABT has these listed now, though probably not at the best price.

Any idea if they're going to have the 48" version?

I had the same thing happen they copied one of my posts here last year to the same site Great Plasma .com not to mention this is mostly an LED/LCD discussion . Without copyright protection hard to say about the legal stuff maybe a lawyer will read this ? .

I just bought a Sony KDL 40R450A for the bedroom . The 2014 Sony Bravia's might be better than the 13's FWIHR... anyway this one is pretty decent W/ Samsung SPVA panel ( as good as anything ,better than most I've seen in it's price range ) I got it for a good price on line .

I almost got a Sammie 40EH 53/5500 but BB didn't have any with the better panels (I've seen the Sammie both ways it makes a big difference) so I got the Sony instead ofc with a Samsung panel .

I Saw last year where *some 2013 models were selling cheaper than the equivalent 2012 models (mostly on line ) occasionally though one to call .
OTOH I've even seen new sets (same model or newer equivalent occasionally sell cheaper than some open box or clearance sets at B.B. . go figure ?
.

I was thinking of buying the Samsung H6350 but now I'm thinking of waiting for the new Vizio P series.  But not sure when it's coming out.  Anyone here anything?
