New to the forum here, although I've lurked for the past month or so trying to learn. I'm in the market for a 70" that will be put in a room with lots of lighting that will be on most of the time, creating a lot of glare on the screen. I currently have a 50" plasma that reflects the light like crazy, and its driving me insane. Below are my criteria, ranked in order of importance from most important to least important:
- Low screen reflectivity to combat glare from light sources
- Excellent picture quality
- Deep blacks
- Good track record regarding problems developing with use
- Priced up to $2500
I realize that I likely won't be able to find a display that has the best picture quality and is also the best at combating glare but still has the deepest blacks and has zero issues, but I'd like to get as close as possible.
As far as my research is concerned, I've read up on the Vizio M701D, Sony KDL-70R550A, and Sharp LC-70LE650U. I have heard the Vizio has a very glossy screen and would not do well with the light situation I am dealing with, so I am a little soured on that unless some of you own it and can attest to it being a good fit.
I appreciate any advice you can give!
Sharp is definitely semi gloss.
Vizio's new 2014 sets are also definitely semi gloss.
I would wait until the Vizio P series comes out in a few months from now, if you want the very best picture.
