This evening I almost purchased a Visio E400i-B2, but I am glad that I didn't. Based on what I have read, this model TV isn't really a 120hz set. Being an avid hockey fan I really need 120hz.

Is there a 40" LCD that you can recommend that has true 120hz under $500?

Thanks!

I bought a Samsung UN40FH6030FXZA at Best Buy about a month ago. It lists for around $529, I think, but we got it for about $40 less. It's not "smart", but I like my smarts outside the display anyway.

Is it a true 120hz display? Or is it 60hz with additional technology to make it look like a 120hz display?

Have you watched any sports on it? If so, was the motion blur noticeable?

Thanks!

Every review I looked at and the listings if you Google the model number report it as 120hz. I haven't watched sports on it yet, but everything I have watched has a decidedly different feel... smoother. We're headed out the door for a movie, but when I get back I will find some sports to watch and give you an update.

OK. Watched a little golf, Men in Black III, and some Olympic coverage, very smooth. It's definitely 120hz.

I wouldn't focus on 120hz as much as finding a TV that has good motion and less blur that looks good to you. I'm assuming you were planning on engaging frame interpolation and each manufacturers implementation is different, some better than others. I have found on vizios for example that it smooths the over all picture but small things like football and hockey pucks actually get worse.
