Yes, disable Windows firewall if it's on, at least for local networks.

Windows Firewall is off for Private/Local Networks.
I've tried other files as well.
My Surface Pro 3 can see all of my shared drives / Play media fine.
The TV cannot.

Sorry, I wish I could be more help. Hard to diagnose without being there. Samsung Link, Plex, PlayOn, WMP sharing, etc just work for me on both my Samsungs. Your SurfacePro has no problems because it is Windows to Windows. Keep in mine I am using Windows 7 with no issues. Windows 8.1 can have some funky file sharing issues but everything should work. Stupid question but have you rebooted? (I hate being that guy that asks it).

Haha, no worries asking, I appreciate the help! Yeah, I've rebooted many times. I might try Plex. Does that support 4K? I tried Media browser 3, but that only does 1080p/60.

UPDATE: Just tried Plex, No go for 4K either.

I don't understand why it doesn't just play from the USB drive; like the XBR did it. Honestly, though.. the Sony would play almost any format. It was a total media animal. Haha

Hisma: Did you try it at home? I'm curious if you've gotten it to play.

The file is downloading right now. Watching another show right now, I'll check in a bit.

Btw, I couldn't get link to see my pc after I updated it to the newest version. Strange. My mythtv, hdhomerun and jriver work just fine though.

Well good news is I got the video to play via DLNA, so it definitely works that way. Bad news is that the video cuts off after 15 seconds or so and the TV says "this video data is not supported".

I couldn't even get it to work on my HTPC either. I think I may need a higher speed hdmi cable, since it would freeze every time any motion occured, but it never actually stopped complete.y

Interesting stuff. From what I could see, it looked incredible. Best 4K image quality I've ever seen... way better than the 4K demos on youtube.

Does anyone know the REAL refresh rate of this set, I really wish the manufacturers would stop flat out lying to people about their refresh rates, and whats the deal with no displayport AT ALL. Except for the panasonic wt600 which is terrible. BY THE WAY exsplain how this tv is sapposed to be 120hz 4K when there isnt even an video interface to deliver this signal currently on the market INCLUDING hdmi 2.0 which isnt even capable of 120hz 4k.

This is a great article that kind of explains the whole refresh thing:

I read a lot of this thread, a lot of people complaining about the TV especially for hockey/sports.
I just watched some NHL Network HD games and also watched tennis and baseball, it all looks really good.

But I still would like to know if there are any calibration that are especially good for sports?
I just have it like it came out of the box, and I am reallly happy with gaming, blu ray, sports...everything.

thats a nice article and all,id like to see an exsplanation why theres no displayport on any of these new 4k tvs. For myself i just want to pc game on a large screen with TRUE 120hz via a displayport. as the blind tests will show gamers 100% of the time choose 120hz over 60hz. as far as im concerned everything thats out currently is JUNK. Heck my old mitsubishi lt-52246 puts these newer 1080p
tv to shame with its 10 bit processor. sigh... im starting to think hdmi is afraid displayport would take over and make their spec obsolete WHICH IT SHOULD. And i woulnt be the least bit siprized to hear that hdmi pays big money to ALL the manufacterers to only use their spec.

The Panasonic 4k has a display port. I think HDMI has just become the connection of choice for home theater; All manufacturers actually pay a license fee for the use of HDMI, not the other way around. Crazy, I know. I agree All these TVs should have display ports, which are royalty free to my knowledge.

The blurriness comes from the fact that I focused the picture on the sides as opposed to the input message. If I focused on the message, the exposure was being dimmed and therefore, made the clouding better than it is.

I had the same thing on the 75".
In theory the dimming should make some of that go away, but as the leds are on the sides, sometimes it is difficult without a full array to turn off certain parts of the screen.
From what I have seeing all edge tvs have some of that, some more others less, but they all have.
The Sony seems to have the leds on top/bottom which makes entire columns lit up when only small icons (pause/play) are being displayed.

I have the 65hu8550 and it's not too far off from yours. Mine is only really noticeable at night but its very bad in the bottom edges and I can even see it in some content on the middle of the screen.

My settings are the same at 14 backlight and smart led set to high....wondering if I should deal with the hassle to switch it out at Sears before my 30 days is up.

I have the 65HU8550 and a Pioneer VSX 822k receiver. I'm using ARC and having issues where the TV will change its Sound settings from "Receiver" to TV" on its own.

I'm also having issues when I power the tv that it changes m receiver input to TV instead of whatever HDMI I had it set to.

I know all of these issues are all due to HDMI CEC / Anynet+ but I want to know if other people are experiencing this. I just bought this set and I don't feel it's reasonable to have to teach my wife how to change the TV settings for when it goes crazy on it's own

Also I know one way to try and fix this would be to not use ARC and use audio out from the TV, however I'd rather not go that route.

I got mine from sears too. I've had bad luck with them. I wonder why they get all the bad screens. Maybe it's a conspiracy.

I've returned my 78 hu9000 and got full credit. As long as it is "defective" then you're ok.

as you said, It is an HDMI-CEC issue. Check within your Receiver for a place to turn of automatically changing to TV Input. The most recent Denon's have added this functionality but then you have to change to your TV input manually when you use any of the TV apps. It is just a symptom of ARC doing what it is supposed to do, unfortunately the auto switch comes along with it. Some receivers also have the ability to set a delay on the Receiver switching inputs.

It is just a symptom of ARC doing what it is supposed to do, unfortunately the auto switch comes along with it. Some receivers also have the ability to set a delay on the Receiver switching inputs.
Thanks for the advice I'll look to see if I can adjust those settings. I'm techy but have never had to mess around with my receiver settings so it's all new to me.

I just took a look through your receiver's user manual and page 52 covers HDMI Control and ARC setup. There doesn't seem to be anyway to stop the auto switch to TV input via the receiver short of turning off HDMI Control which turns off ARC.

I have a Harmony One remote and I programmed it to include a 20 second delay then an extra step to change the receiver back to HDMI 3. So the TV starts out on HDMI 3, switches to TV, then switches back to HDMI 3 (ARC). Still not perfect as you have to keep the remote pointed at the receiver for 20 seconds or so.

I just put my source on the page of each activity in both my Harmony Ultimates. Much easier for me to just start the activity and then as soon as it switches to TV Input press the source button (ex. Cbl/Sat) on my remote. Thankfully it is only an issue when I first turn on my systems, the rest of the time ARC performs flawlessly now.
