75" 8550 just got delivered. I came close to buying the 70X850B but why too many issue with Sony out there on the boards. Plus I have been bitten buy Sony twice in the past and my Sammy plasma in the bed room has been rocking for years. Now I just to wait a few week for my TV stand to arrive. YES THAT SUCKS!! I guess I will have a lot of reading done by then.

Any word when a new update will be out?

Hi,
I'm on update #2150 . Like some of you, my 3d is unwatchable since 2150. Other then waiting for the new update, first any idea when that will be and anything else I can do to get my 3d working?

Thanks, Jerry

What?? Had I known there was big issues with the 3D I never would have ordered. What's the deal guys? I wonder if Chris will exchange it if the 3D is sucky.

That firmware is for the 8550, not the 9000. You have nothing to worry about.

Hum, I have the 75 8550 and watched Hugo in 3D and thought it looked good. I didn't have any problems.
Now let me state that was the first time I have ever watch 3d on a t.v. so can't say Joe good it was versus other tv. I didn't think the 3d looked as good as 3d at the movies.
So not sure what people mean by their 3d is broken since ask update. I'm on 2150

For what it's worth, I have the 85" hu8550 and the 3d indeed turned unwatchable after the 2150 update. However, after being fed up with the issue I began playing around with the 3d settings and was able to correct the problem by playing with the 3d perspective settings while watching a 3d disk. I also went to the netflix app and went to 3d section and played 3d from the app. All is now working again even though I am still on 2150 firmware.

Thanks, just tried what you said. Helped only a bit and still not really watchable. Got off the work phone with customer support. They're at least two weeks away from getting the 3d fixed.

I've tried all the other motion presets, including the custom settings to no avail. The problem is this; I'm watching a football game, the line is set, just before the snap of the ball the back goes into motion and it looks like the picture is in film mode or 24p cadence, then seems to synch up just before the ball is snapped and looks like normal motion for the rest of the play.

By using the motion presets, or the custom settings I can alter the overall motion characteristic to mimic film or the soap opera effect, or something inbetween. But what's distracting is this "synch-up" (if that's what it is) that causes the cadence to switch from a film like cadence to a normal cadence, or from a normal cadence into a film-like cadence.

This doesn't happen with 24p blu-ray which looks just great. It also doesn't happen with true 1080/60p source video. But the problem does happen with 720p. It's like it has a problem detecting pulldown and cadence.
I have been watching a lot of football and others sports since I bought mine and my motion has looked very good. I set motion on custom with 10 and 5 with my settings.

If you want to risk Samsung not honoring the warranty if something happens in the warranty period or sketchy return policies if things go bad you will still get the TV cheaper than at an Amazon or Best Buy. There are a bunch of sites just like ECTV that do this same bait and switch with aggressive sales tactics (most of them in New Jersey, nothing against NJ). As I said, if you want to risk it to save some money up front then go for it but I have never had the guts to order from one of those places.

All I can say is my own experience, I am currently watching my 65HU9000 from east coast and could not be happier. Out the door price was 3,100 so 250 more than they advertised on the site at the time. Took 6 business days to arrive. Registered with Samsung with zero issues. UHD pack was sent out yesterday. Would absolutely use east coast again.

It is a 48" 7500 which is the UK version of the US 8550.

If it was wiped out with a firmware update it can probably be fixed that way as well, with a few complaints Samsung will get that handled....... There was an update a while back that bricked Samsung plasma's, it was fixed fast.......

I wouldn't be surprised.

All I want to see in 4K right now is Oblivion.

I am completely sure 1080p at 60 fps to each eye 3d is above the 1080p oled lg passive 3d system. Passive systems alone soften edges to make sharper detail. But the hu9000 also has a bright 3d picture as well something that really helps to create a crisp 3d picture that in many ways is beyond the normal 2d picture.

A 1080p set does not have the pixel resolution to do this. Only a uhd set. So I am completely sure in my statement and it's validity.

I say to people it looks as crisp and bright as a regular 2d bluray. However the picture is in 3d.

The uhd oled will be nuts.

I have seen both and while the Active 3D is fantastic I preferred the Passive 3D on the OLED. It was brighter and gave me more of a WOW 3D effect. You really can't go wrong with either, it's a personal preference and individual comfort level with glasses and viewing. You are right about the UHD OLED. That's why I decided to wait and save my cash.

I could only imagine oled 3d at 1080p and 60fps to ea. eye. Sensory overload.

If you can afford one. Man by all means. I'm totally jelly.

I do love my HU 9000 as well. One day I'll have a oled uhd set as well. Maybe soon.

Back at double checking nVidia active shutter system on my PC latest 340.52 3D vision drivers, Asus 3D monitor and GTX680 video card. Watching Titanic 3D. Did some tweaking and brought 3D depth up from the default of 15% to 80%. Big improvement. Looks really good. It's nice you can make such adjustments especially when you have some vision loss due to glaucoma or whatever. So now I'm really looking forward to my 9000 due here next week. I'm assuming I can make similar adjustments with that? I'm praying I haven't made a drastic mistake in not holding out a little longer for 4k OLED. I begin to think maybe I should have.

No need to adjust the picture to me. But yes you can if you want.

I think the player and it's quality of 3d matter.

I have the Panasonic bdt360 which is known for a clean artifact free picture. In 3d it's got a clean picture as well.

So as long as you have a good player you should be good to go.

OLed would be costly in comparison. But worth it if you got it.

If not you still have a very awesome set you will love. Or not I mean nothing is guaranteed.

I had been wanting OLED for some time. I was set on that. And even though the 3D and inky black levels are fantastic I found the new EC9300 to have too many issues as reported in it's thread. Primarily a pale yellow stain along the left side with some of the grey menus and over much of the screen when using the web browser. The ABL wasn't too bad. And I could live with that. I don't like the way the remote works or their odd menu system. It just felt like a work in progress while the HU9000 feels more like a solid finished product. IMHO On my computer in Titanic 3D I see a lot of haloing around lights down at the wreck site on the ocean floor. I understand with OLED you don't see that. I'm hoping the same is true with the HU9000?

Unfortunately, this is something which is plagued Samsung TVs for years. I have the same problem... It's not the motion handling per se, as you will notice it happens with any of the settings chosen. I notice it the most when watching the golf. Almost every time the camera switches over to another player / hole, there is a period of roughly 1 to 1.5 seconds where the motion appears to drop to like 10 frames per second and then everything comes back to normal. I've also noticed this same thing happen when playing COD Ghosts on PS4. Every time an "Objective Completed" message pops in the top left corner while playing campaign, there is about 3 or 4 seconds when the frame rate drops to same stuttery show of like 10 frames per second.

I can't tell you on titanic in 3d. Sorry.

Would absolutely use east coast again.

If you don't mind me asking, did you buy the retail version with the ts01 panel and one connect box, or the model without the one connect and different panel? I've found it a bit frustrating to deal with ECT and others like them, because they claim the model for sale is a stripped down "commercial" model and to outfit it like model shown on Samsung's site, the price comes up to $3400.

The only dumb question is the one not asked
