I should probably take this opportunity anyway to try the ARC again, not a fan of extra cables.
I've seen other pics where it is on the back.

Using the ARC here to connect to a Samsung HW-H550 to the U9000, instead of the bluetooth, to get proper on/off control. So far has worked fine.

LOL, my dogs were barking at that noise at first, and of course I was egging them on, with lots of volume adjustments.

When I switched over to a Samsung H-550 soundbar via HDMI, the boinking went away.

Sounds like you have found your set, no set is perfect aso it sounds like you got a pretty good one. Have you tried rubbing out the clouding as others have done ?

UN65HU8550 and Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 webcam

Is there a way to use my Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 with my 8550 ?

When I click CAMERA in the apps menu, no camera found !

Have tried Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) switched to ON but no webcam.

Do we have to buy the Samsung's cam ?

Thank you

Anyone have their calibration settings to post that they are happy with. To be honest I've been enjoying mine as-is right out of the box. I turned off whatever setting it is that creates the soap opera effect. Beyond that I haven't touched a thing but am open to suggestions on how to improve the picture.

Ok, so the first couple of days with my HU8550, after playing with the settings and trying other user's settings, I was questioning why this set didn't look as bright as my last one and why the colors looked washed out (Standard Mode). Colors on Natural Mode were just more vibrant. I finally looked at pics I had taken with settings from my last set C8000 to see what I was doing different and noticed I had Dynamic Contrast set to Medium and Black Tone set to Dark/Darkest. And noticed the settings I had used from a different user had these OFF. I made the change and it looks just as I like it and great.
I notice most people posting settings have both Dynamic Contrast and Black tone OFF.
Why is this?
How do these two settings improve or not improve picture quality?

Could it just be personal preference sometimes?
I seem to enjoy the picture better when I have either or both of these settings engaged.

Overall, I'm really enjoying this set. No clouding (or none I can notice at least) and no other issues. Darks are exceptional. Those scenes of the city at night on Skyfall on Netflix look amazing as well as other dark scenes. Same with The Family which has many dark scenes.

I couldn't fall in love with the curve of the HU9000 neither did my wife so this was the best we could do for a flat screen. I actually like Dynamic mode and have used it a couple of times when in the past it was unwatchable. Even love Movie mode (using Cnet settings for UH9000-they work!)which I have hated in the past due to the pale, yellowish color and rarely watched any content on that setting, but this set its just making me appreciate Movie mode a lot and making me realize what I was missing on Movie mode.

So much to enjoy!

About ready to pull the trigger on a 55" HU8700. Haven't seen any reviews from owners. Specs look good. We're not interested in the camera or extra features of the 9000. What differences other than the curve are there from the 8550? Comments?

I'm pretty sure the curve is the only difference and it comes with the One Connect Media box. You could get a 60" HU8550 for the same price as the 55" HU8700. Trust me better get a 60". There is more enjoyment unless you really like the curve.

After doing some comparison shopping in person at both Paul's TV and Best Buy, the wife and I really do prefer the curve. So that's why we're interested in the 8700. Replaces a Sammy LN40A750 ToC which we're still quite happy with. Retirement age folks with a early 1950's smaller living room.

I have had the 78" model for a couple of weeks now (I ordered it directly from Samsung.) I have it matched up with the Pioneer Elite "4k" SC-75 receiver and a high-end 9.2 speaker system from Atlantic Technology. Sources include AppleTV (through which I primarily run Netflix), a Comcast DVR, a Samsung 4k Blu-Ray and the UHD Pack. The impact is stunning since I let the TV do all of the upscaling and it does a fantastic job. The set is wall mounted and extends a couple of feet into the room and it feels like you are watching a hologram.

Why does the Netflix features page for 8550's say it supports 5.1 surround sound if that isn't the case?

Because it does? Is it an activated feature no. Does it support it? Yes.

Because it is supposed to support it, Supposedly they are working on it. I have contacted both Netflix and Samsung who had me go through all the usual troubleshooting steps only to eventually get me off of the phone by stating that they are aware of the issue and it will be resolved soon. The only reason I question that is if that is the case then why waste my time with the troubleshooting steps. Shouldn't these support people be able to type a Model number into a database and see a list of current reported issues? It would make life much easier anyway. Micro-rant over

Thank goodness my area is small enough a good soundbar and sub will do. And now that I got the damn arc working I'm super stoked.

But by the time any of this really matters netflix will be the best place to go. With 5.1 I'm sure.
