Question. I have the LB6300. I have a mini PC I use to stream files hooked up via HDMI. I notice that when I am watching this input I am unable to change the picture adjust settings (trumotion, real cinema mode, etc.) Does anyone know why this is? They are all blank. What I find odd is I can change the black level, and instead of High or Low there is an "Auto" setting which I haven't seen on any other inputs/sources. I tried changing the icon of the input but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Also, as a previous poster mentioned I too have issues watching soccer matches with the movement. Will try changing set top box to 720 and see if it makes a difference.

the shadows you see is most likely a result of the incoming signal to the TV. How do you get your soccer matches? Antenna? Set top box? Streaming app? also if its an external device, how is that connected to the TV?

the optimal situation would be a Set top box connected via HDMI and the output resolution of the STB to be 720p which will give you better quality than 1080i since it is a progressive signal and have higher resolution per frame than 1080i.
No matter the source, it happens with any incoming signal.. I use local antenna DTV (Digital) or Set Top Box (Sky) using 720p/1080p output resolution!

I just bought a LB60 7100UT yesterday. Does anyone know what the UT stands for? I notice there are a couple other letters on some LB60 7100's. Also I am having a heck of a time getting my remote to function with other devices. It actually shows device in memory but will not actually let me pair it. I keep getting error message.

Coming from a 60LB6100, switching to a Samsung F8000 (which blew the picture quality out of the water) - now looking for a larger display (70"); would I be happy with the 70LB7100? Our micro center has it for $1499.

Or should I just wait for black friday.

Anyone have any thoughts on the 55" LB5900 ? It's $699 on amazon at the moment, so it's a good price.

Can't find any reviews though

This was in response to a question on 6-4-14 I stumbled on while looking for any problems anyone had with this TV. Was trying to help BMOCK who asked how to get his audio from the built in Netflix App to his AV receiver.

"i bought the 70' LB7100 last week and got my netflix code the other day. I opened the netflix app and started a movie, but the sound was coming out of my speakers was the sound from the tv show that was playing, not the movie from netflix. I am sure this is just a simple setup error on my part but can someone point me in the right direction? I have everything running through my receiver. One HDMI cable going from the "out" in the receiver into HDMI 1 on the tv. "

Don't mean to insult you, and maybe you assumed we understood, but just in case...you did connect the audio out from your TV to your receiver, I think it's optical audio out but I haven't seen this TV for a few weeks (we set several 65 and 70 up for clients). All the sound from apps in the TV is captured within the TV and passed out of the TV to the amplification device, your AV receiver. Then you select the correct input you connected it to on your receiver and you will receive the sound from the app, be it Netflix, Amazon, etc. You will have to set the TV speakers to the position you want them , normally "off" or "external speakers" if it will let you (I forget as it was several TVs ago). If DOlby DIgital in the app and going through your TV, that's what you should be able to process in your AV receiver.

If you already knew this, never mind. Just trying to help.

LB6100 IPS Confirmed or No?

Hi, I was hoping someone out there with the LB6100 can confirm whether or not it is an IPS panel. I've seen conflicting information even inside this thread. The posts I could find saying it's not seemed to be getting their info from lcdtvbuyingguide.com which is a terrible site that I'm absolutely convinced reviews a few products they're lucky enough to get their hands on and then blankets other models with hearsay, guess work, and even non-sense.

I'm considering the 55LB6100 from Costco as opposed to ordering the 55LB6300 as I don't really care about the WebOS or "MCI index". However, I do care greatly about IPS and will spend more to get it. I've seen the LB6100 at the store as well as some photos in this thread and everything seems to indicate it has a superior viewing angle to Samsung VA panels. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have the 47 inch lb6100. Don't believe it's a IPS panel but am really happy with the tv. I don't do much viewing from the side as it is my bedroom tv. Great picture though from where ever I am in the room. Totally recommend this model. Hope that helps. Lou.

LG is not going to be using IPS screens for every panel anymore. This is the first year they are going to be splitting up features similar to how Samsung has. The magic remote and IPS panels are going to be in their premium line of tvs. The difference in colour ranges on the recent panels (as far as IPS vs regular screen) is huge. From what I understand LG isn't putting IPS screens in all their panels because of the costs. Every LG rep I have spoken too mentions that putting IPS into everything resulted in big time losses. This is also the first year LG is almost matching the pricing of the other brands (like Samsung) right down to the dollar. Seriously.....there might be a difference of $2 for a tv with similar specs but with a better colour range. Don't get me wrong....my main tv is an LG and I am really happy with it. I am also really happy that I purchased it before LG made the changes to their tv lines.

Does anyone know if the 65lb7100 uses an IPS panel? It says it is an IPS panel on the lg website but I am beginning to doubt it.

I saw this TV at Costco today - I seems to be the same TV as the UB9800 with less powerful Audio (35W instead of 70W). Specs on the LG website are pretty much identical to the UB9500 except the UP9500 does not mention 'Harmon Kardon Sound' while both the UB9800 and UB9300 do.

Let us know what you think of the set after you have some time with it - Costco has it for $2700, which is not bad for a 65" 4K TV (at least until the 65" Vizio P comes out for $2200 :-)

Not sure what you mean by 'IPS vs regular screen' ... all panel types have their ups and downs. Wouldn't say IPS is superior tech compared to say, VA, which Samsung uses in its high end screens. I generally find VA to be the best LCD panel type on TVs as it has way better contrast than IPS, although the viewing angles tend to suffer compared to IPS.

I do prefer IPS for PC monitors, as viewing angles and color accuracy are more important to me there.

I am extremely jealous of that price and would buy one instantly. However this is contingent upon the fact that setting black level to high fixes the auto dimming issue. Can anyone comment on that?

I can get a 42LN5300 or 42LB5600 for about the same price.
The 5300 is battle tested and I know what I'm getting.

Should I chance it by going for the 5600 and hope it's better?

I need low input lag and displaylag.com has the 5300 at 28ms.

well according to Fomol620 these TV's dont have a global dimming issue. I have had 4 different sets and these TV's do indeed have a global dimming issue and other people also see this global dimming issue.

I have had 2 55LB7200 and 2 60LB7100 and all of them had the global dimming issue. I did try to set the black level to high and it did get rid of most of the global dimming but I dont like the way it looks even after I calibrate it again. I think when you put the black level to high it cuts the range down and you dont get 0 - 255. I think it is set at 16 -235 or something like that on the high setting.

Perhaps I shouldn't have used "regular screen"...how about non-IPS? Samsung do have some great panels...but I was just referring to the quality of the color ranges in the newer LG models. I was messing around with just the stock settings at work the other day and the IPS panels on the LG's look much more similar to most of the Samsungs out there. I can see a lot more red-ish hues on the non-IPS models this year from LG>

Do you notice the picture becoming a bit washed out when you are directly to the side of it? I'm not sure if I'm expecting something different from an IPS panel, but the picture becomes really washed out when I look at it from the sides. I ask because I have the 65LB7100 and when I looked at the 60LB6300 at Best Buy, it didn't appear to do it. Just wondering if the 60LB7100 is any better.

Making LG LB6100 bluetooth capable with USB transmitter?

Is there some sort of USB transmitter or adapter that I can plug into the USB port on my LB6100 so I can use wireless bluetooth speakers? vs. hard-wiring speakers? Thanks. I quite the newbie to this tv. Just upgraded from a tube tv! Yikes!

Got it this morning. I Don't use the web stuff much since it doesn't have Adobe Flash, but I noticed that when you point over stuff in the settings section, you get an explanation box pop-up out to the side now.

No, my side viewing is great. Maybe if your at 180 degrees you will get washed out but it is not bad at all.

I got one of the 55 inch ones a couple of weeks ago. I'm seeing the flashing you have described. It maybe happens once a day, for a split second. I thought I was hallucinating at first! Is yours still doing it?

Do all LG tvs have this annoying double image crap? The LB6300 when the camera pans on a show will make the edges do that double image. Video games at 30fps have double image. Even 24p movies have double image. Anything with 60fps is ok and clean. At this point I'm really really hating LCDs. All I want is a clear image with being forced to use that interpolation junk.

Mind you this is with interpolation off. Frame manipulation gives me motion sickness so it's a useless feature.

Edit: Is it me or do some of the colors and black levels look better after the update?
