Yup it's still happening. In fact, after the update it happened while I wasn't even watching anything... It still bothers me every time I see it.

Same here. Is it just when watching something over HDMI for you? I haven't seen it on other inputs, but I very rarely use those.

I haven't viewed much through hdmi. I only play games (Xbone, PS4) and haven't noticed it too much. But it happens everytime I watch through Netflix or videos from my hard drive.

Ok, Im going nuts trying to figure out what the difference between the 55LB5500 and 55LB5550 is and for the life of me I keep finding conflicting information all over the web. I have spent hours on this! Do all LG TV's now have IPS panels by default? At first it appeared the LB5500 does not have an IPS panel and the LB5550 does but now I keep finding vendor links that show the LB5500 has an IPS panel as well (and some show not). Someone please help! LG's own website is pretty vague as well on the matter...

Have you noticed it happening more often since the latest update? Now it seems to happen once or twice every time I watch a show.

The update isn't live in my country yet, or at least it wasn't last night. Once I install that I'll let you know.

^^^ Ridiculous how many questions in this thread are people asking simple spec questions that should just be clearly posted by the manufacturer themselves (even worse there is mis-information being published). Im at a loss why companies do this. Makes it that much harder for the "informed" consumer to shop and decide... which is a lot of consumers these days, gone are the days of walking into a store and being sold whatever mumble-jumble the sales-person spits out at you. Wake up LG (and most other big companies). Rant over/

Hey guys, got my 55LB7200 today. WOW!!!! awesome TV.

One thing thought, I am kind of disappointed with the local dimming though, I put in The Dark Knight with the Joker and Gordon scene in the integration room when it is dark and when Joker raises his hand you see the local dimming kick in and looks like a lens flare effect. I have it on low but I tried every one, high and medium. Other than that it is an awesome tv.

I did calibrate it. My room is dark and I have the backlight at 50. at 80 it is way too bright

Can you comment on whether you see any darker vertical bands as seen on the earlier YT videos in this thread when viewing solid color backgrounds like the Netflix splash screen? I feel like I've adequately reduced it on my set, but I'm seeing other anecdotal information on Amazon and LG's sites where others are seeming to report this and I'm curious if it's a systemic issue or just with certain sets.
I just got a LG 55lb6300 today from Best buy no light bleed thank god.I do notice when thetvTV first tunes on I do see just barley the vertical bars on both side of the screen about 3 inchs out they are not that bad at all but they are there. How did you end up reducing yours on your TV.Please let me know thanks.

Updated 4.30.08 today. Look at the webOS TV Version. It states "1.3.0-3208(afro-arches)". What the hell is afro-arches?

I picked up a 60LB7100 for $999.99 at Microcenter. I've been pretty impressed so far.

Global Diming = Dynamic Contrast

This "global dimming" sounds exactly like how Dynamic Contrast is meant to behave - darkening and lightening the screen depending on the content.

If Dynamic contrast is disabled and the dimming occurs - I'd suggest you have buggy firmware there.
