One question for LG owners of LB series, I need to know this:

When game/pc mode is active, do you still have an option to choose black level from the menu?

Are you still able to turn off micro dimming?

Im trying to avoid auto dimming / global dimming because i hate it, and I'm gonna use it mostly for gaming and movies.

Please tell me how's this working, thanx.

Hey, I just got an 60LB6500, I haven't tested it thoroughly, but I'll share the results with you once I have them.

Should I just try to get a new TV of the same model from LG with my warranty? This dimming issue is really annoying, not so much particularly because it dims, but more so for the fact that it keeps flickering like it can't stay consistent on a single mostly dark scene.

Looking into the 55UB8200 for around $900 for a bdrm replacement but looks like there are some issues? Should I be looking at others ?

This will most likely not work for most users here. I have the 70LB7100 that I watch with an HD antenna and media PC. I never had the global dimming issue with broadcast TV. The only time I had the issue was with watching movies played from my HTPC. I thought that to be odd so I did some tinkering. I got rid of the dimming issue by using SVP. The TV now when playing movies is receiving 60hz. When I go to the TV settings menu the "black level" is set to "auto" "global dimming" is set to"high" and I do not get the screen flicker. I use J River media player but SVP works with a number of PC media players. I dont mind the "soap opera effect" so this turned out to be a win for me.
Again my viewing habits are different than most but I watch 99% of my movies and shows thru my HTPC. Hope this helps one or two of you as I really do like this TV. The passive 3D is awesome and I think I have it calibrated well.
Also, for those not familiar with the 70LB7100 its the 70" that has the VA panel not the ips

You can't really provide the same white balance settings, because each set is different.

DLNA support and playing DivX and MP4 files with LB6300

Does anyone know why it is not possible to fast forward on these type of files or jump to a specific scene (feature not supported) while it works great on my 2011 LW6500 ?

Additionally, I frequently have the TV just stop in the middle of a movie and then start the next movie for no apparent reason. This happens with different files and formats.

None of these problems on my 2011 LW6500 or my 2011 BD players.

Hello everybody! If you could offer some assistance, I'd really appreciate it!

I'm colorblind, so I have a really hard time finding the PERFECT settings for my TV's picture, but everybody else that comes to watch TV always notices if it's not set up right.
I just ordered an LG55UF7600 and was hoping someone could list their ideal calibration settings for picture on that device.

Thank you all so much so much in advance!

So what is the general consensus about the Global Dimming issue? Is there a list of affected models? Finally, does it continue to be present with the new LF5800 model (or any 2015 models) with no real way to turn it off?

Gotta say I just installed 5.00.04 firmware (not WebOS 2.0 but has UI and features from it) on my LB6500 and the menus are much snappier as is the overall performance of the TV. Still kinda slow but much better than it was previously. Only use it for Netflix, screen sharing and my htpc so the slow menus never really bothered me.

My backlight goes out every once and awhile or one of the dimming zones goes out and leaves a darker area across the screen.

Just thought I would update my experience with this on a 60LB7100. My TV's backlight would turn off randomly while gaming and I'd have to power cycle the thing to make it come back - very annoying mid-game! Then, though some magical combination of settings the problem went away for months until I made the mistake of adjusting something in the control panel and the problem returned. No amount of tweaking would make it go away again.

In frustration I found another of your posts Moparbob, where the folks suggested relabeling the HDMI inputs to "PC". This has worked for me - backlight hasn't gone off since I made the change. And you can bet I'm not going to touch the settings on this TV again until I retire it!!

Anybody know how to turn off LG's Global Dimming?

I think that overall speed of webos depends either you have full HD or ultra HD model because full HD models have only 1.5Gb ram and ultra HD models 3Gb ram (2014 models). I have 55uc970v model and after latest update, webos is very responsive and I have never had memory leak problem. Even the older versions were quite fast.
If someone has this model, have you calibrated it? If so, how good color accuracy it has out-of-box in isf mode?

Does anyone have the calibration settings for the LG 65LB7100? Mine is blinding when any scene with white is on. It just lights a room up to the point you need sunglasses I have tried various preset modes and even tried some custom settings, but it's just sooo bright, but just with the color white. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

BlackHawk1 > I have set my blacklight setting to 50. That was one of the reason to why I set it that way. After you calibrate your TV to the way you want, finish by reducing the blacklight to 50. Menus and white scenes won't blind you as much and will give blacks a more natural appeal. It will also reduce electricity usage.

Hope that helps. As for the dimming issues, it's a feature within this TV. I have found no way or correcting it. You can only minimize the effect by playing around with the settings until you have the effect that you desire. Mainly Dimming and True Blacks values. (3 settings I believe. Don't have the TV in front of me)

Lately (owned mine since AUG2014), I have been experiencing these strange flashes every couple hours while watching Netflix. I can't tell if it's the app or the TV causing it.

Hey guys, anyone having issues with 5.1 pass through? I seem to get it with certain sources and not with others.

Source video however is the same, just the method of playing it changes the outcome.

IE

having a 5.1 video file playing through a chromecast plugged into the TV it will not pass through.

Plugging the chromecast into the receiver all is fine.

Playing the same file via the plex app on the TV itself works

Playing the same file via a Roku stick plugged into the TV works.

Can someone explain something to me about the LB6300 series.

What digital info does the TV receive to distinguish what aspect rations are or are not available for a source?

Depending on the source I have different options for aspect ratio

I have two nearly identical Roku sticks, both plugged in, one only allows "Just Scan" as it's aspect ration while the other gives me 5 or 6 choices and I choose cinema zoom 1 for it.

I double and triple checked all the video and picture options for the two inputs and they are identical. I swapped the roku sticks between the two inputs and the available aspect ratio changed with the sticks that were plugged into the new input.

So the TV is receiving somesort of info from the stick to determine available aspect ratios.
