1.) Total available was space is 102". I'd like to keep total O.D. incl. surround speakers to about 92".
2.) 900b is 67 5/8" + surround spkers at 10" ea. is total: about 88". Close, but works and will look busy.
2.) Are you referring to the 70x850b? It is 62" + each Klipsch spkr at 10"-total: 82". Would work,
but, if I get the 850b, I'm fine with the 65"
3) 79" 900b is 80" (you have?). To big and not in budget.
4.) Regarding speakers:
1.) I have a good center channel, so not an issue.
2.) I assume you can run either/or: t.v.speakers or surround sound without changing connections?
5.) Again, the only issue of upgrading to the 900b (from 850b) was PQ-Believing the 850b to be good, but 900b better. (Then I started questioning panel differences, etc.)
I know this is the Sony forum but I'm going to say that you might wanna take a peek at the LG 79" that's basically a 79" 850 with local dimming and 240hz refresh rate with a motion flow of like 1440..it's a good set and I have seen them for less than 5k...

The 9800 series....but they are last year's model...as is the 900b...you might want to wait until the rest of this year's models are rolled out and you can get a better deal

2.294

Hoping its the rumoured fix for 3D

On the passive models there were motion issues, quite a few threads on the Sony forums about it - this also affected the passive 850B models.

I have the passive 79X900B, and if there was fast motion in 3D it was pretty unwatchable.

Rconn on the Sony forums found that using a PC that could output 4K and using software like Win DVD to output a preprocessed interlaced 3D signal, there was no motion flow issues.

This was as this bypassed the TV's own 3D processing (basically the software displays alternating rows of pixels with the left and right polarised images).

Just checked myself, and the scene in Avatar with the Thanator is far more watchable (even though to be honest even in 2D it's probably more suited to 48fps than 24).

So as usual UK and US sites aren't up to date with latest firmware change log.

This page on Asia support has the list of fixes, 3D isn't specifically mentioned:

Source: http://www.sony-asia.com/support/dow...ct/kd-65x9000b

Fixes:
Improves the performance of 4K playback by USB.
Improves usability of USB HDD recorded title management.
Improves general performance of TV.

Not your mistake, mine, forgot to clarify it was relating to passive.

Testing as much content as possible, seems a lot better, but may be placebo! the change log doesn't directly reference 3D

Would be nice to get a update on the 65" to tune up some of the smart apps.

I also have this issue that sometimes I cannot get the home button on the remote to open up the apps etc. I see the light blink but I have to keep pressing it before it finally opens up. Small thing but it is something that will drive me crazy.
