Yes I believe it does I have a 55 inch Samsung d8000 from 2 years ago or more and it's as thin as it gets but the 65 inch version was of horrible quality and it was attributed to the thinness. But I'm sure tech has improved since then. The wedge sony tv is more a result of the speakers needing a the width to produce the impressive sound that the 900b has.

Can you all have a look at the below photos and let me know if it's normal? Basically we've rearranged furniture and am now watching the TV at more of an angle.

When watching the TV in the daytime and there are dark scenes, there are these green smudges going downwards all across the TV. And even in non dark scenes, you can see the green hue when watching TV.

Is this normal for LEDs? I've not experienced this before, but it is annoying.

It is not normal. However, if you wanna get anywhere with Sony, you need that same picture without the reflections.

Yeah the viewing angle is if we have guests and I am sat on the corner of the couch. I am hesitant to contact Sony as have been dealing with them for a long time to get the first TV replaced for incorrectly stating that my X850A had the HEVC codec.

The wedge design are the higher end models. The 930C and 940C. The picture quality will be better.

My 65X900b review Okay here are the Tvs I used to own: 55 DLP, Sony 55A2000, Sony 55 A3000, Samsung 58 PNB850, Sony 55H929, Samsung 65 H7150 and now Sony's 65 X900b...

I remember my first HD TV it was the DLP, I can remember it being so bright and the colors truly POP like nothing else I've ever seen and the whites were outstanding, a long side with the picture , then few days later I saw the so called rainbow effect and had to return it, so after that I bought the sucky tv that was the Sony A2000, I wasn't happy with it really and I had it for about year I think, then after awhile here comes the green blob, thank god I had a Warranty. So with Warranty money I bought the A3000, I loved that TV, Outstanding picture even to this day, nothing comes close to picture quality, I know OLed beats it in Black and everything else.. But IMO, it beats every LED I had and then some, it sucks cause Sony really did have a winner on their hands and yet it also come with problem like the A2000, but it wasn't green this time, but red/pink blob. So I went with a Samsung this time, it had nothing but great reviews and I knew for sure I would love the PNB850 right, WRONG! Picture had a great black levels, but at the time some things were ashy gray black and plus here comes burn in and some people say don't even worry about it, cause only the old plasmas have them, LIES!!! After awhile Bought the HX929, great black level, black was black on that set, I know what your saying, it was a Full LED duh, but at the time, I really didn't know, in away I was kind of let down by the HX929, I wanted the A3000 picture, but it gave me something else and it wasn't bad picture, but didn't wow me like the A3000 did and plus I wanted something bigger, So I saw the 65 H7150 at buy best and I thought to my self, wow that picture is very close to HX929,but boy was I ever wrong, it was kind of close, the H7150 doesn't suck, it just wasn't it for me, I sent it back, so now here my straight to point review of the X900b....

The X900b some times has an outstanding picture quality as if your looking thru a window, it gives me that same wow feeling I had with A3000, but what I don't like about the X900b, the brightness is way to high at 50, picture can look very washed out. The X900b picture very close to HX929 and the X900b isn't like the H7150 by far, the X900b has better picture depth than the HX929 by far.X900b the black is kind of black, but not as black as the H929, but just as good and way better than H7150. At first I thought about taking it back and getting the 55 OLED, wish I could the get 65 OLED, but that thing cost to much lol, but maybe in 2018 I'll get one, but for now I'm keeping the X900b, I'm giving the X900b 8.9 out of 10.... Its great tv and there is nothing more to be said.. thanks guys, hope this helps some one...

Good advise, it is always for a shot, you do not know unless you ask

Just for the sake of keeping everyone updated with my 900b return to Sony. They called me today to let me know their warehouse is out of 900b sets and will likely replace with a 950b. They said they may still get more 900b in stock but it's a separate department and they really don't control or see any of it.

They really have sucked hard with service but it'll be a pleasant surprise if this happened.

A guy from Sony is going to come around and have a look at it for me, before trying to repair it. If they ask to take it away to repair, can I realistically ask for a replacement rather than waiting for the repair?

If it's under 90 days they will replace with a brand new model. I would never let them service my TV if it's relatively new. Always get a new one.

It's been just over, well it's been 4 months actually.

The only thing I don't fancy is taking more time off work - waiting for the engineer, then if it needs replacing, having to take more time off work. Sony gave me such a big runaround last time - I even wasted a whole day waiting for their delivery guy to come and nobody showed up. I don't want to go through that again :/

While I'm not endorsing to lie, Sony asked me for the date on my receipt but never asked for a copy.

Well I have no problem telling them a little white lie after how they have treated my situation - but I did already tell them Mid December 2014. Anyway when they call I will try and explain the situation so they understand.

Love this TV by the way - no problems with it apart from the green stuff.

Calibration Settings...

Can someone please send me a reliable picture calibration settings that I need to do on my new X900B? I bought this newly and saw some of the UltraHD movies from NetFlix which looks grainy and doesn't seem to be that great. I tried the settings from CNET but it clearly said those settings are for non-4K content. I need a setting that works for both 4K and non 4K contents. Thank you!

wishful thinking
they are replacing my 55x850b with a 75x940c... I filed a replacement the second day I got it.

It has been more than 2 weeks waiting for the TV... now I hope I can at least get the new 55x850c... or x950b if I push them... I will even pay some for the upgrade.

How can they be replacing your tv with a model that's not even released yet?

Ok, so Sony want to pick up the TV via a 3rd party service centre and assess the TV themselves. Not ideal but ho-hum.

I also want to ask you guys if the below is too much for backlight bleed. To me it looks way too much. Backlight is Max and brightness is 70, but I always have backlight Max as it improves picture imo.

That's probably whats giving him the green streaks, having the brightness way up throws the gamma and white balance out the window.....

Spinach, do a full power reset (hold the up arrow/joystick on the back of the tv and hold the power button at the same time) it will bring the tv back to default factory settings, then unplug for a few minutes then re evaluate the green and flash lighting situation.

Jeez my brightness might be at 50 but my backlight is at 1 with a gamma of 1 if I remember right. I'd go blind or else!

How long did it take them to contact you? I'm currently going through the exchange process right now, I wish my warranty company would have told me I had 18months instead of the year that I thought that I had. I contacted Sony on Monday about my tv, it's been on the fritz since the 29th of March. I've posted my current situation in this post since it pertains to the 850A.

I'm only posting here because I'm almost certain they no longer have any 850As and as I was comparing between the 850B and the 900B, the 900B is more comparable to the 850A. The 850B looks like a substandard set compared to it's predecessor, now that I read your post that the 900B is oos in the warehouse worries me in what they are going to offer.

Oh yeah the brightness was only at 70 for that photo - I usually have it on 45. The backlight thing seems to have disappeared completely now though - even on full brightness.

I did try doing a full factory reset earlier today and the green smearing still appears to be there. Is there anything else i could try?

They're awful. You have to call them back every day because they never call back when they promise to. I've been fighting with them the past two days about the 950 vs the 900.

Long story short, a supervisor approved me to get a 950 because he said I'm likely to experience similar issues with other sets. They place the order and i called to check but the order as for a 900. The exchange dept said they see it should have been a 950 but have to escalate and yet again, I have to wait for a call back from customer relations.
