I hope we actually see professional reviews. I haven't seen any for the X900A.

Got I nice email from Sony Support Germany

"We want to inform you that the X9005B models are NOT equiped with HDCP 2.2, and there is no schedule to implement this with a software - updates in future."

I'm most excited about the 65" X950B! Deep black opti-contrast panel with "triluminos" full array local dimming! I'm curious to learn what triluminos actually means for this model. Maybe those micro RGB LED modules I saw at SID display week many years ago! biggrin.gif

My only concerns are:
1. Input lag (needs to be no more than 32ms in game/graphics mode). IIRC the 2013 Sony UHDs were in the 50ms range.
2. Scaling of 720p and 1080p - needs the option to be able to cleanly scale 3x/2x respectively to UHD with no smoothing or ringing artifacts. Apparently the 2013 Sony UHDs wouldn't allow pixel resize scaling.
3. No display port input for full color resolution 2160p60 from a PC. I don't see this ever changing; maybe next year they will add DP as a fifth digital input! tongue.gif
4. Price! The XBR8 was initially $7k, but fell quite a bit halfway through it's model year.
5. 2014 Vizio reference series - Will it be a competitive alternative?

The 2013 sets are closer to the 40ms not 50. Good luck finding one with 32... if Sony can't do it then I doubt Vizio or any other brand can either.

Ahh, that's right. I just checked the Input Lag database and see that the 2013 models averaged 40ms. Hopefully the new panels will be quicker!

I'm buying 2 4K panels. The XBR-65X900B for the living room and debating for the bedroom if I should get a highly discounted XBR-55X850A (can get it new for $1,725.) Or the XBR-49X850B or XBR-55X850B. Since the 2nd one is for the bedroom I would not mind getting a 2013 model or going smaller to a 2014 XBR-49X850B.

Well, if that is true (other than the spelling mistake - Sony Support is notorious for not knowing what they are talking about) - it would be "odd" that the U.S. versions would have it - but the other versions do not.

OK, that article says:

"...nine Ultra HD TVs in three series will be available in June."

That means that all 9 of the TVs will be available in June.

The X900B will start shipping in 9 days for the 65" - and in 16 days for the 55"

:D

Just logged in to sony website and my 65-900b says shipping 4/26. Also can anyone provide any clarity as to whether or not you'll need the media player for 4k content such as rentals etc? Not sure if the newer models have this already built in?

You will need the 4K media player for Sony 4K rentals and purchases...

However the new B models have built in HEVC 265 - so you don't need the new 4K media player for 4K streaming...

However, are you in the UK?

Hello, apologies if this has already been answered somewhere else, but I couldn't find specific mention of it elsewhere on this thread.

I live in the UK and wanted to get the 65" X950B, because:

- I already have a B&W surround system so don't need the speakers

- I want to wall mount it so I'd prefer not to have that massive wedge to deal with

However what isn't clear is what the model number is for Europe and whether it will include the wedge/speakers?

From the Sony UK site:

X9 has speakers and wedge design. The X85 does not.

I hope the x900b will have hdcp 2.2...

It would be a "KO" for the 4k Displays from Sony..

If you are not in the U.S. - then I do not know...

Thanks for the link, yeah so that's what I feared - in Europe if you want the flagship X-tended Dynamic Range feature then you have to get speakers + wedge... :(

Looking for some advice... I recently purchased a 55 inch x850a, love the TV but I have some minor clouding. Contacted Sony and they are offering a replacement upgrade to the XBR55X900B.

What an amazing company first off... Sony just made my list of best customer experience ever.... unlike Samsung which tops my worst.

First off does anyone have any details around how these sets are shaping up? I know it's similar to the 900a, glass screen, speakers.... obviously it's too early for any reviews but just curious if anyone can comment on first hand impressions... obviously I should just shut up and accept Sony's generous offer but just wanted to get anyone else's opinion.

There not in stores or in reviewers hands yet. The XBR-55X900B ships May 3rd.

Did they offer to repair your TV first or right off offer you a 2014 model to replace it?

It's the Sony employee discount price. I'm still debating if I will get a 2013 or 2014 for the bedroom.
