Is there a new top line of Samsung TVs coming any time soon? Went to a local electronics chain, they didn't seem to know anything. I am shopping for a 60 inch LCD, regular 1080p, and was going to buy the 60-inch version of the F8000, but they seem to be discontinued.

Yes, there's already a replacement, but it's not a flat TV.

That's great. So what do I buy now if I don't want 4K or curved but still want the top picture? Find the 8000 in stock or go with another brand altogether?

Do you live in the US? Amazon has 60"-ers in stock and I'd be surprised if the big box stores didn't as well.

Yes, I'm in the US. Amazon is charging $2,500 plus tax in my state, so I'm just wondering if this model discontinued and is no longer the best 60-inch TV, is it worth spending that much on it?

I feel this set will remain viable for a few years, until more 4K contents is available anyway. It's unknown now, but the smart evolution kit may help as well.

I don't care about 4K content at all, so I might go with this one. Found it at Abe's of Maine for $1,829 with free shipping and no tax, free wall mount included. Rakuten marketplace (seller EPM USA) also has it in open box for $1,244+ $199 shipping, so $1,443 total. The seller has good ratings, not sure about open box, but $400 is a big difference.

If you can step down to 55", you may want to have a look at the new Toshiba L7400U (FALD) (just starting to become available through channels like Amazon).

Also, the Sharp UQ and SQ lines are edge-lit like the F8000 but have 'near-4K' resolution (1080p+/4K-) The 60" UQ is available for below $2200 and the 60" SQ can be found for under $2000.

I would recommend doing some research before purchasing from Abe's, I don't have experience with them but have read some unfavorable reviews...

Ditto x1000

There are a bunch of sites that all practice the same tactics. They quote prices lower than anyone else but the other sites with similar tactics. The "fun" begins as you go through the purchase process. They require a phone call "confirmation" during which it all should become clear if you are paying attention. None of these places are authorized dealers. Don't get sucked in by the fact that they show up first on Google price shopping searches and seem to have a large number of favorable (fake) customer reports. Look further before you pass any money their way.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll pass on Abe's for now. Any opinions on that open box item from EPM USA on Rakuten? $1,244+ $199 shipping is a tempting price.

H7150 is the replacement for the 8000 series. Already can be bought on amazon via third party or placed on pre-order via amazon. Price seems to be cheaper than the f8000 series.

I'm not sure if H7150 is a worthy replacement. Only 3 HDMI ports and no Evolution Kit support. It might also be heavier and thicker.

Same width and height but 0.1'' thinner compared to f8000. The H8000 is a curved screen, but rumors are that there will be a flat version later on in the year.

Thanks for the advice, all. I ended up going with an open-box UN60F8000 from a Rakuten seller.

Total with shipping was $1,280.69. Minus 1.75% Fatwallet cashback + 10K Rakuten superpoints promotion (equals $100 store credit) = Bottom line $1,158.28

I realize it's open box and may have dead pixels or other problems, but Rakuten sells a 3-year warranty for only $125.00, which does cover marketplace merchants and includes free return shipping in case anything is wrong. Seems like the warranty is a no brainer. Thoughts?

By the way, my Rakuten order got cancelled. The marketplace seller said it was "out of stock." Still without a TV... :-|

I had same opinion on not wanting 4k or curved and bought the f8000 at local best buy. As Samsung enforces their pricing UPP pretty strictly, everyone authorized is within a buck or two of each other on new set.
BTW new firmware came out yesterday for it. I installed it but don't know what changed.

Looks like the early specs were wrong. The correct number of HDMI ports is 4, according to Amazon. Still no local dimming though.

Abes of Maine is a great place to buy tvs. They have their own Samsung department with a specialist you you can call anytime. Plus NO ONE legit beats their prices. There's no tax, they have online coupons if you look and just get the white glove delivery unless a big rig can fit where you live, you won't regret it. I've bought 2 tvs including the F8000 in the last 5 years and I love them, no problems either. Also got a 4 year in home warranty for $200. I'm kinda pissed that I bought my f8000 in August and there's already so much new stuff out though......owell

You are probably the only person on the Internet to praise them in any way (not counting the paid reviews on Google Shopping, which are obviously BS).
