At first I did just the lower left corner. Saw there was an improvement so I went over the whole screen very lightly.

Wow, this really works! There was slight clouding on my set, nothing that bothered me much, but by buffing the screen it disappeared. Great stuff!

Concerning "Smart LED" - I am finding that it greatly reduces image quality, in particular white detail.

I have a request to anyone who owns 65HU8500 (9000) and has The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on 3D Blu-ray.

- Chapter 3, at 14:49 - can you play that scene with Smart LED set to OFF and tell me what do you see in the sky behind Gandalf. Now play it with Smart LED at any other setting - Low, Standard, High, and look at the sky.

In my setup, Smart LED turned ON hides the clouds in the sky, it simply becomes white without any clouds. With Smart LED OFF I can clearly see clouds and blue patches in the sky.

Plese let me know what do you see in this scene with Smart LED ON/OFF/.

ON, and make sure to display a black screen, it will give you an idea when pressure is enough - you will see the black change into white when you buff. I figured the pressure needed is as if you are cleaning it, no more.

Just got mine from BB tonight and so far I just have to say wow... picture is miles better then my Ln-t5271f.

Not noticing anything wrong with the screen at all so hopefully I got a good one

Only thing is the Netflix app was really pixilated on 4k content and I know it wasn't my network (in speed tests I pull a constant 60Mbps). I found a few troubleshooting tips that I'll have to try out.

Price matching at best buy with east coast tv seems to be left to the whim of whatever sales person you talk to. They would not price match ectv with me, and subsequently did not get my business.

The other guy went to hhgreg if there's one in your area I'm sure they'll deal. They always seem eager to make a sale, in my area atleast.

On their website, hhgregg does not list East Coast as one of the major on-line retailers that they will price match with but no harm trying.

I just have a 3D Receiver and not UHD. If I set the signal to "Through", will it let my TV do the upconversion?

Also, I assume I just go HDMI-Out of the Receiver into the Smart Hub?

So, does this work well on ALL edge lit LEDs or does it just seem to have good results on this particular Samsung?

Could work on any edge lit as long as there is no glass cover over the screen. If you can press on the screen and change the light in the area you are pressing then trying it may help.

Carlos in the x900B thread said it worked on his set. I believe those have glass over the actually panel. So it should work on most.

I'm not sure how that could work over the glass unless maybe tapping with your fingers hard enough to vibrate the panel.

The whole idea to it working is that you are actually moving the LCD
slightly to fix any unevenness that could have been caused during shipping.

Pulled the trigger today and ordered the 78 incher. Will be delivered tomorrow. Bought at PC Richards for $500 off msrp. Didn't opt for the extended warranty. Will be hanging over the fireplace where it will replace my 63 inch samsung plasma from 3 years ago. Will post pics once all set up. Gonna be hard to sleep tonight, like Christmas Eve!

I wouldn't call smart LED "Smart".

Smart LED set higher than the low setting I feel turns off far too many zones often causing loss of picture details. I think what you see is probably true. I felt that the low setting is a good compromise. I believe if you can get the set calibrated with a lower gamma setting (mine is a -1) makes smart LED work better. This might not work very well in a well lit room.
