Isn't the ghosting effect most prevalent during a dark or very black scene like when credits are rolling? That's when I see it. My post is the test I used to determine if it's my new tv or something else.

No. More during fast motion scenes and scenes where you see the camera pan across.

Press the info button on the remote. It will tell you whether it's out putting 2160, 1080, etc.

maybe now we get futbol mode. That'd be great, since the last thing samsung sets need are more gimmicks

The update mostly fixes issues that F9000 owners (myself included) are having the the 2014 UHD Evolution Kit which uses the exact same firmware as the HU9000. We had washed out screens, blue blacks, screen flickering, etc. Not sure what improvements it may add to HU9000 though.

Yes. Except mine don't even go up to 4k stops at 1080p. Probably has more to do with Comcast

I have Tim Warner with a very fast internet speed. If I had to bet, I think it's a Netflix issue. They haven't ironed out the kinks yet.

I thought Netflix fixed issue for Comcast customers as they paid Comcast for a direct connection. Netflix has agreed to pay Verizon FIOS as well, but I don't think that took effect yet. I have higher tier of Verizon FIOS and regularly get over 80 Mbps, but I don't get HD picture from Netflix during prime time.

As I said, I have Time Warner and get about 93 Mbps testing through Speedtest.net. Still think it's a Netflix issue or a compression or use problem. I agree with you, time of day affects the speed. I get 2160 mornings and afternoons, but prime time is iffy. My concern is who do you contact to fix the problem? TWC (or whoever is your provider), Netflix, and Samsung will blame each other for the issue.

Perhaps if Comcast's proposed acquisition of Time Warner goes through, your Netflix issue would go away. Think this is more of a pipeline issue with Netflix as I have no issue with getting hidef through HBOGo, Vudu, etc. during prime time.

Another reality check is the fact that HEVC H.265 is in it's infancy and the reality of bandwidth minimums versus consumers being throttled at times and in the US market we're about half that of S. Korea.

I did some studying and found hurdles HEVC 265 must overcome are significant especially when broadband is less than desired in certain markets and there are royalties involved for it's use.

It seems like it's been thrown out into a global market and that market will be playing catch-up for years to come. Hiccups may abound until it matures and we tolerate it's infancy to maturation process.

I didn't know Vudu has 4K content. How do you find their 4K content and is there much of it? Just do a search for 4K, is that correct?

My apologies - didn't mean to say Vudu has 4k content. I was just referring to capability of getting HD content from online websites during prime time.

Edge lit led bleeding
I just purchased a new samsung UN78HU9000 tv and have been loving it. I've had it about 2 weeks and trying to determine what is acceptable as far as led bleeding. I have tried to gently massage the tv but still have slight white banding and possibly led bleeding in the lower left corner. I have attached a pic that is quite grainy since I took with the lights off to show the effect. Do you guys think it is bad enough to warrant a return? Do I wait a while for the screen to break in? This is via netflix through samsungs smart hub on the tv so it's not coming from a connected source rather over the air via high speed wifi, over 100mbps. Let me know what you think and what's the best way to go about this issue.

I think it looks very good. I wouldnt bother exchanging your set. I mean you would need a flawless panel to beat that.

that would really annoy me.

is it ever noticeable during movies in dark scenes? I had a set with a similar problem, except more pronounced. I got it replaced with a new one and the new one has 0 light bleed.

Again, mine was quite a bit worse than yours though.
