Go to your TV Menu then Support then Contact Samsung. You will see the full firmware name and number listed next to Software Version. The version shown under Software Update just drops the decimal and number. You have the latest available.

EXTREMELY unlikely that a panel lottery will occur on a 78" curved panel - about 100% certain Samsung has but one supply for that model.

You need to have a sound receiver that will accept ARC and also the right HDMI cable.

Well that sucks ass.

Im pretty sure I read that I'd be able to delete the ones on my video pack and download/buy others in its place when the option becomes available sometime late summer after another video pack comes out. I thought the new video pack was going to be essentially the same thing but with a different set of movies.

As it is, only a fraction of the hard drives memory is even used on the first video pack. Why would they send out a 1 terabyte hd and only stuff it 20%?

I think that is still the case. I doubt that the one they have now is much different than ours. Hopefully.

Well they really seem to be lagging on letting their customers know when they'll be able to watch 4k movies.

I am trying to find the article but a Samsung rep stated that the first Hard Drive would not be able to access future content but that a 2nd drive slated for Summer/Fall would be able to function as you described. I am sure that is why they gave away so many of the first drive, give us a taste and then make us pay for it.

What about the people who BOUGHT the first video pack? On the ads they stated that they'd be able to download new movies.

What ads? Pretty positive they stated the first video pack would be sans downloads. Of course I have been wrong before

Yeah I saw that comment "the unit's pre-loaded content does not take up the whole 1TB HDD, so you can download and store additional 4K movies and video clips from Samsung's app store (coming soon)" when the first one was released but Crutchfield sometimes takes liberties with those kinds of things. Notice the verbiage on the 2nd drive in the same spot is "The unit's pre-loaded content does not take up the whole 1TB HDD, so you can download and store additional 4K movies and video clips." No mention of an App store here. Nothing to do but wait and speculate though.

It should but I don't know the DRM requirements, etc involved with that. I agree that if one could do it the other one should be able to as well but who knows.

I found the original press release on the first pack and I think the wording had people assuming we could download more content
"Samsung UHD Video Pack - With Samsung’s exclusive UHD Video Pack (1 terabyte of available data), consumers can watch Hollywood blockbusters such as Night at the Museum, The Counselor and X-Men Origins: Wolverine from 20th Century Fox as well as G.I. Joe: Retaliation and World War Z from Paramount Pictures. The Samsung UHD Video Pack, which also includes 3 documentaries, will be available in April for $299.99. Samsung plans to release a second UHD Video Pack with more UHD content in the second half of this year."

http://www.businesswire.com/news/hom...4#.U-1xF24o7bU

The only release I could find about content was this, and again the wording leads to assumptions:

"Earlier this year at CES 2014, Samsung announced a partnership with 20th Century Fox when it unveiled a UHD Video Pack, a storage device pre-loaded with content from multiple studios, including blockbuster 20th Century Fox movies – such as Night at the Museum, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Counselor. Going forward, Samsung and 20th Century Fox will expand this partnership in order to further develop a broader UHD content distribution ecosystem."

A couple days of using the Chad B. calibrated hu9000 and I still can't believe the picture on this thing. I'm coming from a PN59D8000 plasma and the blacks weren't black during the shows or on the bars and this tv blows it away. Black really means black. Also the colors are great, I feel like I'm watching movies the way the director meant it for the first time in my life.

So far so good. No clouding and just a tiny bit of light coming through in the bottom and that is it.
Chad B likes this.

I hate to say it but Chad B. does this for a living and I wouldn't feel right just giving out his settings without his permission. I guess you could pm him and see?

Either way I would highly recommend getting your tv set individually calibrated as all panels are different. This is my first calibrated set and would do it again. I feel like I won the panel lottery with this one.

Thanks! Really enjoying this set. Watching blu-rays on my Oppo 93 is a dream for picture quality. Will have to wait a bit for the UHD video pack. I have tried a few YouTube 4k videos and they rock. It is most definitely a step up from the D8000 plasma which was nothing to sneeze at.

You the man, and I totally understand... based on your response to the new look of your picture quality, I am confident this TV will shine in the upcoming shootout. .. oh and Chad B is the man also! Yeah I said it, lol..

I'm looking at the DMP-BDT360 Blu Ray player. It's 4k capable. Do I really need this, as there is no 4K content. And wouldn't the 9000 do the upscaling from a Blu Ray disc source? In other words, would the picture look any better if I bought the BDT360 or just kept my plain vanilla Panny 3D Blu Ray player?

I'm looking at the DMP-BDT360 Blu Ray player. It's 4k capable. Do I really need this, as there is no 4K content. And wouldn't the 9000 do the upscaling from a Blu Ray disc source? In other words, would the picture look any better if I bought the BDT360 or just kept my plain vanilla Panny 3D Blu Ray player?
Nope, don't bother with a new player til a 4k player and discs come out (if ever). For now the tv will be the best.

I own this player. Yes its worth the money.

No not to upscale the tv is the best option period.

But it plays movies fantastic. So smooth. No issues. The 3d is clean. I mean clean.

Great player.

Thanks fellas. Does the 4k from the Panny player help at all in terms of PQ? If so, I think I'll pick one up.

I wouldn't upgrade if you have a current blu ray player. If you had to... go with an Oppo as they are the best. Either way I would wait it out until 4k blu rays become reality if they ever do.

To your question the 4k up scaling from the tv would be best. Don't do two upscalings with a player and tv. Use your current player if it works and you like it and pass through video to the tv.

Overall keep your current player if it works.
