Just talked to Samsung Service Center about my Repair and They are just sending me out a brand new one. The replicated my issue on several different test sets and I guess it is cheaper to just send out a new box?

h265 is a much more efficent codec at the same bitrates as 264, so if they are encoding at the
same bitrate, the 265 version should be better looking.

There is no encryption going on here, just encoding

I will check, when I get home tonight.

Question for you all. Just did the update and all went well but I have the Samsung hard drive with the demo 4K videos that we could get back in February (4 separate files for each video) and I could have sworn I read there was a way to merge them in the menu system so they would play on the new 2014 one connect box but I can't seem to find the menu anywhere. Anyone seen it and know where the menu selection is located? Thanks!

Yeah, I got mine connected via 4 port usb 3.0 Hub, the hard drive shows up and the folder folder, but that's all I get. Although my UHD Video Pack works fine.

I'm able to see the video file but it only plays one of the 4 file at full screen (still looks detailed/sharp), I'm sure there is a way to merge them, may have to contact Samsung. Also my old smart remote doesn't work with the new box (thought I read others post earlier when folks first started getting the new one connect that it did) which is too bad as I like that one better than the new one which feels kind of cheap.

I can only see the folders on the hard drive and none of the video files. Which USB port are you connected to?

I'm connected to the USB 3.0 with the same symptoms you described. So....USB 2.0? maybe?

This may have absolutely nothing to do with it, but I wonder if the USB drive should have been connected to the old one connect box when you perform the backup?

Would not think so. I plugged mine into the new one connect and the UHD Video Pack played fine.
Not sure of your issue, though.

Not the UHD video pack. it's the complementary pack we received when we bought the F9000

I connected to the usb 3 port as well. It showed about 5 folders, the videos were in one of them, forget the name. If we were supposed to connect it before setting up the 2014 one connect then I imagine then must have a converter too somewhere that we can download to merge the files.

So I went ahead and disconnected the box and repackaged it back up to take to BB tomorrow for exchange. Sure glad that I went through BB so they can swap them out. Might take a few day but I know I will get one and not have ship anything off which would be longer. I tell you this much, the new OCB is fantastic. Definite change in PQ after going back to old OCB. The entire UI has changed and the motion seemed better. Can't wait to get the replacement and pray it works.

I found a manual for the UHD Evolution Kit on the net (don't know where now). Anyway, it has a chapter for "Installing the UHD Evolution Kit" that provides directions for converting the drive immediately after backing up the data (when you still had the original one connect installed). If you don't do it at that point, the manual says you can go to Menu/System/Update Recorded Programs at a later point (i.e., now for you). Hope this helps.

By the way, USB 3.0 is backward compatible (i.e., works fine with a USB 2.0 device).

So it's ok to unpack my SEK-2500U/ZA Evo Kit I got from Best Buy a couple of weeks ago and hook it up and install the 1131 software now? Or, are we still waiting for the correct firmware to come out? I'm gathering everything works other then most people still without the Netflix app on it, right?

This is the correct firmware, just make sure you go to menu-system and scroll down to UHD Evolution Kit Backup and run this first before you unhook the 2013 one connect box as it will save all your settings. After it has done the back up it will list the next steps, I think it was only 3 of them. I just did mine about 4 hours ago and all my setting transferred over including password for my wifi network.

I did a google search for "manual for Installing samsung UHD Evolution Kit 2500" and found the manual you are referring to. Unfortunately I do not have a "Update Recorded Programs" option listed under Menu-System. I do still see the "UHD Evolution Kit Backup" and curious if that's what they mean. I tried looking in Menu-System with the Samsung HD plugged into both the 3.0 and 2.0 USB ports but no dice.

You could try hooking up the original one connect again, with the drive attached, look for the pop up window, check yes, and go for it! However, personally I would probably figure the risk of screwing up the 2014 kit isn't worth the benefit of the pre recorder 4K files (especially since you now have Netflix and YouTube demos).

Nope, no dice, tried that, no pop up window for converting HDD either in original one connect or the SEK2500U/ZA. Even tried resetting both boxes to factory, no dice there either. We just SOL.

I don't think that exists on our boxes in the US or at least I haven't been able to find it and I have done the backup and install like a dozen times now, every time with the 2013 hardrive installed. I looked everywhere for it. I also remember reading about updating recorded programs but I just thought that had to do with TV overseas or something.

Quick question, I noticed when I went back to the original box under contact Samsung And under update firmware version scroll down to app's version, there was a Netflix software number there, but no Netflix app version on the SEK2500U/ZA, I'm just curious, in the members that have Netflix, does a Netflix App version show up on your's?

Yeah, that makes sense, because the record function using broadcast over the air is not available in the United States or Canada.

My thoughts exactly. The terminology Recorded Programs means TV program recordings to me.
