Agreed - I've been playing loads of 4k/60fps games with the new nVidia drivers too. It looks insane. Only downside is now my PS4 and Xbone are gathering dust.

I had the same problem. If I remember correctly then updating firmware to next version fixed it.

Someone in HU9000 forum wrote that 1142 is available in US, so try that.

You had an issue with VUDU or ARC? I also read that the firmware update was available but of course my internet is down (posting from my phone).

Well I updated to 1142 just fine via TV menu. Still no Netflix or Hulu Plus fix and my VUDU is still throwing up an invalid device error. I wonder what it fixes. My HU8550 just got an update as well.

Did you try deleting Vudu, restarting TV and then reinstalling. Vudu app stores some info on TV, maybe that info is corrupted.
Smart hub is such a mess that just uninstalling and reinstalling sometimes doesn't delete all parts of the app. Even resetting Smart hub doesn't delete all app related parts. As far as I know, only full reset does.

You could also try switching Smart Hub to a region where there is no Vudu app, this should also delete it.

What's wrong with Hulu Plus?

Yeah I have deleted VUDU, restarted then reinstalled. I will keep messing with it. Hulu Plus has the same Stereo only issue as Netflix.

I don't use Hulu, so I didn't know that. So this probably is a firmware issue.

The 1142.2 firmware supposedly has improved apps. Maybe the apps will be improved tomorrow (when 1140.3 came out, Netflix still wasn't available till the next day)

My Netflix wasn't fixed; but Amazon access appears to be fixed. Before the update, it took me on average 3 tries before gaining access to Amazon. After the update, I got first try access each time in four attempts.

Yes, in the user's manual on p. 207. 3840x2160, L/R mode, 60Hz.

Samsung has crippled the 65Hu8550 down to 30Hz. Since both the 8550 and 9000 have the same HDMI2.0 bandwidth, they are both fully capable of 60Hz. This is an age old tactic of Samsung marketing, disable valuable performance to force the end user to pay extra for the more expensive, non-crippled model ( the HU9000 in this case).

Yeah, 3D needs 120hz, 60hz per eye so that's asking a lot for 4K to output in 3D, 60hz

Which 4K HDTV model are you playing games @4K/60Hz? F9000? HU8550? HU9000?
When I played CoD3, Battlefield 3/4, Blackops, etc. on my f9000 at 4K/30, the picture quality was incredibly good but there was no "3840x2160 /60Hz " option on the resolution menu, presumeably because the game recognized the HDMI1.4 restriction. Are you seeing the 4K/60 option on the res menu?
How does the image quality compare 4K/30 vs 4K/60?
Any subjective comparison between 4K/60 and 4K/30 would be helpful.

I'm using f9000.
The option to boost it to 60fps won't be there till you have the latest nvidia driver installed. Once you have that just right click on your desktop and change from 30hz to 60. Then any game you boot will be able to run 60.

I haven't done much flicking back and forth to compare picture quality. I think there may be a mild subduing of the colours but it's not a big deal to me. I'll always take 4k and better frame rates over marginally better colour depth.

In L/R mode (aka 'side-by-side mode') the bandwidth required is the same as 2D. Each frame comes in as a 2D image (3840x2160) at 60 Hz with the columns rearranged into 2 side by side 1920x2160 images. Then the TV internally un-interleaves the columns of the image into two L/R 1920x2160 images spread across the screen and doubles the framerate to 120Hz. The result is a remarkably detailed 3D image. In fact, after viewing dozens of 3D Blu ray movies in L/R mode, I found L/R 3D mode to be virtually indistinguishable from full res (frame packing) 3D.

So yes, I suppose that's asking a lot, but no more so than 2D 4K/60. Since HU9000 can do it, then so can the HU8550. That is, had Samsung not gone out of their way to cripple it.

No, I have not. My comments were regarding comparing upscaled 1080P 3D Blu ray to 4K format. My software player, PowerDVD, does only full res frame packing mode (24 Hz). I compared that to the same content using Stereoscopic Player v2.14 which upscaled to SBS mode at 24 Hz. The only difference was the former was full res per eye 1080P (frame pack) vs half res per eye 1080P SBS. I spent hours trying to convince myself that in some selected scenes, I could detect a difference.

Per the user manual, F9000 with SEK 2500u (2014 UHD Kit) will also do 3D 4k/60. Also two models of the 110S9. Capability seems to go with the larger processor.

Could you point me in the general direction of where it says "Per the user manual, F9000 with SEK 2500u (2014 UHD Kit) will also do 3D 4k/60." Both my Samsung UHD TV user manual that came with my UN55F9000 and the Samsung UHD Evolution Kit say nothing about 3D 4K/60.

Indeed.
On the SamsungUSA.com site, click on sek2500u 'owner's manual' and it comes back 'manual's data unavailable'. In the owner's manual p.162 for the un65f9000 [ENG_US]FPATSCF-4.103.pdf 65f9000] "30Hz limit for 4k 3D L/R and T/B" . There is nothing on any site that addresses the f9000 performance with sek25000U attached. With a complete lack of specification, Samsung is not accountable for any performance other than the base specifications in the 2013 HDMI1.4 Owner's manual.
OTOH, people are reporting firmware updates such as 1140.1, 1143.3 and such, yet all my searches on all these sites get 0 hits for 'firmware update'.

How did you update to 1142.2 firmware? Did you find the FW at a site and D/L manually? Or did your TV find it automatically and do the update by your command?

I think the assumption is that it was limited to 30 by HDMI 1.4 but with SEK-2500U it now has HDMI 2.0 so 60 should be possible. I haven't read anywhere that it is possible though.

Software Update via the TV Menu. It is not available to download online yet but when it is you can find it on the support page for their HU9000. They both now use the same firmware.

Right, didn't want to add to any confusion since it is available via Software Update.
