So, they do say "one connect sold separately".
They told me I'm getting the samsung made panel, is there any other company making a samsung panel? If so,how would you know?Any input on that would be appreciated.
Do you think I got a bum deal ?

There is a 4 character code on both the box and the TV that tells you what kind of panel it is. The ones I know for sure are Samsung made are TD01, TE02, TE06, UD03, and UD07. Outside of those I am not sure but there is a way to check the service menu to find out as well. Even though they are sketchy you still got a better deal than from any of the authorized Samsung dealers that have it in stock.

I think what really happened was the dealer didn't honestly know that you need the one connect box for the TV to work, without it, the TV's just a brick. Having the Evolution Kit as a second option was an error on their part.

No, they know. Then when you get your TV and it doesn't work you call them and they say "Oh yes, we apologize but you will need the 2013 One Connect for everything to work. We can ship one out for 300.00."..... I am just jaded by sales techniques like this being in sales myself. It is despicable.

Well guys, my Netflix and other apps are back to two channel like before. No more Dolby Digital 5.1. Strange now, when I switch to DTS on one connect box, it plays two channel DTS! Anybody else back to the sound issue on the TVs Netflix app? I knew it would not last playing correctly (seems like with this new SEK-2500 it has not played 100% yet).
It started when I had NO sound on Netflix app. I exited, signed out and still no sound. I reset smart hub and bam! the two channel issue was back.

Nope, working perfectly fine here. Did you click on Audio & Subtitles to see if you can choose 5.1? Remind how you are set up? Are you using ARC to a receiver or Optical out? Is it possible your sound reset itself to the TV speakers?

OK I just had a scare. I stopped watching Netflix, hit back to exit the App, then chose exit, and it got stuck on the exiting screen. I just let it sit there but it was completely locked up so I turned my TG and Receiver off. Then I powered everything back up and went into Netflix, and now I was getting no sound. Grrr. Not wanting to reset SmartHub I turned everything back off and unplugged the TV and Receiver from power for about 10 minutes. Then I plugged everything back in, started everything up and now Netflix sound is playing just fine and in 5.1. It was an issue of ARC flaking again.

Pretty sure game mode is disabled if the name is PC or DVI PC. PC is still lower lag mode so game mode is not needed anyway.

So it is. Interesting, I swore I had done both before but I guess not. Thanks for the correction.

summary of current status

I haven't been able to follow this thread in the last one month because of being overwhelmed at work and also the World Cup. I have only been able to briefly skim thru this thread in the last day or so. So, can any of you following the entire thread please summarize the current status?

BTW, I'd like to hear from those who had issues that were resolved by some version of Firmware/SW/HW rather than those few (very few) who were lucky enough to have everything working from day-1 in May or whenever this part came out.

Below is the summary I got from my brief "skimming" - but by no means was I able to do a through job. So are any (or all) of the points in the following summary regarding current status, correct?

1. The 2014 evolution kit (HW) can be bought from anywhere, not necessarily directly from Samsung (in other words, the issues are all related to firmware, not HW).

2. OFFICIALLY released US SW (I live in the US) has all the issues ironed out except the Netflix app (so I'm not talking about either hacked or Korean SW). Meaning no picture quality issues (like black levels, washed-out colors etc) in the OFFICIALLY released US SW/FW ??

3. Netflix app currently doesn't work - neither the usual HD version nor the 4K version - in the OFFICIALLY released US SW/FW. I realize that some people have been able to get Netflix to work using Korean/hacked SW, but I don't recall reading that OFFICIAL US SW/FW now supports Netflix.

4. Other 4K sources - regular USBs with super-high-res photos, UHD movie disks, 4K you-tube etc - work great in the 2013 F9000 with the new 2014 box and OFFICIALLY released US SW/FW. So only remaining issue is Netflix.

5. (2) above is FALSE - OFFICIALLY released US SW/FW is still very messed up & unusable - the only thing that works for US (except for Netflix) is Korean SW/FW.

Please note that in all the above questions, I "emphasize" OFFICIALLY released US SW/FW, since I'm not keen on doing hacks or downloading unofficial SW (like Korean SW) - I just don't have the time to experiment with these!

Thanks for your time!

There may be some with Netflix issues; but I believe that a high majority in U.S. (including me) currently have a fully functional Netflix app (including "5.1" audio) on the Samsung. Issue has been resolved by upgrades/maintenance for around a week.

At this point, I consider the SEK 2500U software issues basically "fixed". If I have something not working right, I'm not aware of what it is.

Hi. I have a 2013 65" UHD TV F9005. I just bought my evolution kit. Went home installed it. And things are weird. Netflix was there but dissapeared. Now I can't install it. Download.300. And then software update has a update that just seems to be repeating itself. The TV has update 1150. I know there is a 2221. And when I choose software update it starts directly at 89% goes to 100%. Shuts down and then on. But it is still on 1150. Using a USB to install 2221 does not seem to work. It does not ask me if I want to use the usb. It just says update found want to apply. And then it's the same progress from 89% again.

Anyone with similar problems?

Don't worry, your TV behaves perfectly normal. FW 1150 is the latest. Hopefully Netflix will be back soon.

Ok

Only reason I bought the evolution kit was for Netflix in 4K and then it's not that it doesn't work. I'm not even able to install it. I'm just getting more and more dissapointed at Samsung. Probably not my choice next time.

Thanks!

Is this status with official US SW/FW? Or with Korean (or other) SW/FW?
What about the HW (the 2014 evolution kit) - does it matter where you buy it from?

As soon as it's back you will be able to install it. It's already back in the US so it shouldn't be long now..

2221 or something simular to that is the firmware that's associated with the original one connect box when it's connected to the TV. 1150 is the firmware that's associated with the Evolution Kit when that one's connected to the TV.

Has anyone had any issues with .s4ud files not showing up with the 2014 One Connect box? I was able to connect a hdd and play .s4ud files with the original 2013 one connect but once I installed the 2014 one just a few days ago, the files do not even show up on the hdd anymore. I know the files are there since I am able to see them on my pc and mac. I've tried other USB hdd's and still nothing shows up.

.mp4 files are visible on the drives and those play fine.

What about the HW (the 2014 evolution kit) - does it matter where you buy it from?

US software (1150.x) is current version. You can buy kit anywhere as long as it's Sek 2500U/ZA. When you first install the new kit, it will probably upgrade consecutively through several versions of the firmware until it gets to the current version.

only in the US and Canada is the Evolution Kit a "U/ZA" tho.

It was just Samsung's proprietary 4k format. It was required to get around the original One Connect's lack of h.265 and it basically "stitched" together all the files to make them 4k. We won't miss it at all.

Possibly a future 4K app via Samsung Smart Hub?

UltraFlix app for Samsung Smart Hub appears inevitable.
