Oh yeah. I forgot Life of Pi looks great and is full frame. I think letterboxing on 4K wastes too many pixels.

I am big on watching films in their original aspect ratio, but some films filmed in Super 35 do not loose much (actually adds at tops and bottom) of the frame.
I would have had a heart attack if the Panavision frame of the Star Trek films were altered.
You are right, 4K films look better filling the whole 16x9 screen. James Cameron feels that toward his 3D films filling the screen helps the effect. And he is absolutely right, just like viewing 4K material.

I guess Samsung is saying that the Video Pack is good but true UHD can be better. The following is a quote from their Video Pack info. page. "From movies to documentaries, fully immerse yourself in the glory of preloaded blockbusters at near UHD-level quality." The question is will "true full resolution UHD" ever be available for the consumer to watch. Regardless, I did watch the movie "The Counselor" and the quality was very good, the movie wasn't that great. The TV still has a great picture on most HD material.

Only native filmed 4K can ever be real 4K. I just get tired of people saying blu ray is just as good. Even though Forrest Gump was filmed using 35mm film 20 years ago, the best it has ever looked is on this Samsung Video Pack! Can only imagine what REAL 4K will look like.

Got my box today and set it all back up with the original CNET settings. I'm not sure it looks as good to be honest, but I'm colourblind so can't really tell I'm probably just being paranoid, but it just doesn't seem as nice as it was.

Is everyone else still happy with the CNET settings on the new box?

Yes, but I had some minor mods/adjustments when I installed my new one connect. Following applies: 2014 Samsung SEK-2500U/ZA Evolution Kit and CY-SUC10SH/ZA UHD Video Pack

Interesting, thanks. I have them all set to 24 etc so didn't take the new 0 default into account. That'll probably make a big difference I'll get on that tomorrow, thanks! Would probably be good to list out the new settings somewhere for newcomers...

Well, The SEK2500 is only for 4K TV's when I "Googled" your TV's model number I found out your TV is HD not UHD (1920 x1080 vs 3840 x 2160) HD=2k UHD=4K

I watched a couple minutes of one of the Cooking documentaries, and that looks good. I was hoping to see that quality on the other nature documentaries and films.

Are there any titles on the Pack that any of you have found especially good for video?

I found most of the "nature" documentaries were of fantastic quality and demonstrated UHD (4k) beautifully! It almost looked as if I could walk into a few clips be going through my screen. I will definitely show these as to what UHD (4k) is capable of. (Atmoshere, Dive to a New World, Oregon, Sojurns, Vancouver City were some of my favorites along with previously released The Last Reef, Garden of the Gods Cappadocia and Grand Canyon Adventure). I enjoyed many of the movies but didn't think most of them were any better then my current Blu-Rays.

Just a reminder: I'm offering Samsung's first UHD Video Pack (CY-SUC10SH/ZA) with five movies and the documentaries for $200 (OBO) plus shipping in the original box/packing. Please PM if interested.

The audio in Wolverine is DD+ 5.1
You can tell by the bitrate of 1700 Kbps (1.7 Mbps) that it is DD+. DD over optical only does 640 Kpbs. So best to use ARC.
My ARC is working 100% since I updated my WDTV live firmware last week. Strange as that is. It never occurred to me to test ARC with only the HDMI out connected from the AVR to the TV for troubleshooting.

Just curios - how you change um4 format to mp4. Nothing to works if you just renamed it.

Just a simple rename. After checking the info, rename it back to UM4.
Media info will not recognize UM4 as a media file.

The documentaries were shot in true 4K and unfortunately the movies were not so they are upscaled; regardless of how good he upscaling is it will never look as good as 4K. The good news is now that 4K TV's are considerably more affordable and the movie equipment is available hopefully we will see an increase in content available in the next year or so.

Absolutely fantastic. In the beginning there were issues with black levels being grey. And no Netflix. Some others have the flickering problem associated with the one connect cable. (I myself didn't have that problem, knock on wood) And the issues with firmware which has been finally resolved (ie, Netflix, black levels, audio in Netflix stereo vs 5.1)

Do yourself (and your TV) a favor and get The SEK-2500 Evolution Kit. This is what gives your TV the 4K. The original One Connect Box could not display 4K images until this new (SEK-2500) Evolution Kit came out. And we all had problems at first, but that was in the past. The firmware has fixed things and the image is awesome when viewing 4K programming. Without this kit, your TV won't display 4K. Good luck!

I haven't found any easy way to find additional content besides under the 4K section. The only content not under that section that I have found are the test 4k vids and Ghostbusters II.
