Thats great, can you list the steps to get into that menu and post a pic of the screen that shows your panel info for us?

Can someone who has the 950B look at the 900B series thread on page 74 which is the last posting by Vegas oled of his XBR-65X900B? And with their 950B go to the same menu app screen and snap a few pics for us to compare to see if this issue is also present on the 950B FALD set.

Thanks,

Lol I ended up with 2 950B's...

If anyone in the DFW area needs one send me a PM

I reached out to Chad B to come and calibrate the TV. Hoping he can get me on his calendar soon. I have a feeling once this TV is calibrated to its best it is going to look INSANE!

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 950B 65", I just need some information from owners or experts.

1) What's the Input Lag on this TV?
2) Is there a Game Mode?
3) How's the Sony 4K Cloud service?

Thx for the help.

There is a game mode, and I'm hoping like last year, the input lag is minimal.

How widely available is the 950B for viewing? Best Buy (St. Louis) seems clueless about if or when they will have this TV on display. There is also lots of confusion regarding last years models and this years. I called and asked if the new X950B was on display. After a 10 minute wait, they said it was. It wasn't. I'm sure everyone is shocked by this.

See my older posts. I upgraded from the 65X900A. No lag at all on my new 65X950B! Page 15.

I saw some questions about gaming which I am a hardcore gamer. This thing rocks no lag whatsoever in game standard mode. PS4 & XBOX ONE tested. Cod ghosts, titanfall, wolfenstein & watch dogs. The graphics also look even better than my old 900a.

This information really isn't passed down to the stores until they need to know it, as it often changes at the last minute. Which St. Louis store are you referring to?

I went to two different stores, Clayton and West County. They said I could order it, but there were no plans to have it on display. I wonder how many $8000 televisions they plan to sell sight unseen?

Inventory is going to be limited and so you probably won't see them. If you have a design center, then those should have one. The way I see it is if you look at the specs, you have the money, and it has the features, then buy it and you can always return it afterwards w/out penalty. And you will see it perfectly in the environment you will be keeping it and see how your room works with this set. I personally like it a lot. Just having to wait on two w/ no dead pixels or delivery guy related damages.

Both of those locations are Magnolia Home Theater locations and should have a display of the 65X950B setting the week of 6.29 in the same location that currently has a 65X900A.

Magnolia Design Center locations are different though, and not all of them will initially have a display for this model.

Also, any Best Buy that has a new Sony store-within-a-store will have the 65X950B on display.

Hope this clears it up. Please cut the stores some slack, as they don't always know what is coming in or going out that far in advance.

Mid Rivers Mall Best Buy in St. Peters has it. Or at least they did last week.

I do believe the Best Buy stores that will have the x950b will be those with the Sony experience zone in them to start. We have one here in Madison, WI and am tempted to buy one.

I just can't wait for my TV to get here! (Tuesday delivery!) Since I only use an antenna and streaming services, I'll be relying heavily on how good the tuner is in the TV. I'm hoping it's at least as good as the w802a's (which I thought was impressive.)

Anyone else actually use the TV tuner? I played with it in the store for a while, I made the employee hook up an open box antenna since it was only connected to hdmi sources previously.
brickyardz and Vegas oled like this.

Yes, in all Sony Experience stores, as well as Magnolia Home Theater. Just not all Magnolia Design Center stores, at least initially, which are the ones that carry McIntosh, Sonus Faber etc..

FYI:

I see today the Sony website lists the 85" 950B just updated an estimated ship date of 7/1/14. Same for the 79" 900B btw...So who's gonna be the 1st to get the techno flagship, post pics and critiques? I am very curious how these sets will compare in PQ and price to Vizio's Reference Series & the LG 77" OLED 4k due out soon.

Info from Sony's website:

84.6” (diag) X950B Flagship 4K Ultra HD TV
XBR-85X950B
* ESTIMATED SHIP DATE 07-01-2014

Update: They changed it to 7/22/14 estimated ship date online for the 85" 950B , so far the 79" 900B is the same 7/1/14...

What we will be is not what we are, what we are is not what we were...therefore hoping in all things becomes possible.

Oddly enough, I see a ship date of 7/22/14. I'm either in a different market or they updated it.

I've been waiting for this set ever since I saw it at CES and I purposefully built my HT enclosure for it. It was so jawdropping!

Abstract yourself!

It's strange that they show ship dates on the 79" and 85", but no prices...even though I think we know what they are.

Wow, talk about putting the cart b4 the horse bjorg! lol On the other note, it does seem unusual that the Sony site lists the estimated ship date for said models without prices. This new Sony CEO is focused on making the LED/LCD 4k segment successful trying to turn around the losses in its TV segments as it has been unprofitable for many years.

IMHO I suspect that they are contemplating a slightly lower price roll out than we initially suspect due to the competition turning up the heat very soon with releases of the robust Vizio Reference Series and that insane 77" 4k LG OLED. Vizio RS having the highest NIT's, 384 FALD, and native 10 bit throughput processing panels among other leading edge tecno gadgetry wizardry.

Now if Vizio only put a 85" panel out instead of just the 65" & 120" that would really peak my interest. It will be interesting how they fabricate and ship from point A to point B such an elephant without damage with all those gorillas out there...

They also know that if the fabrication process for upcoming OLED's becomes cost effective it will put a major pinch on the LED/LCD 4k market as prices normalize. Just look at last years OLED prices vs this year.

What we will be is not what we are, what we are is not what we were...therefore hoping in all things becomes possible.

Received my Sony X950b yesterday from Best Buy and pretty disappointed with the delivery team. The box was in perfect shape but they were forcing me to sign for the tv even before testing it. No way was I going to sign for this tv without making sure the screen wasn't cracked or anything. Only got to play with it for 5 minutes...now i have to wait 2 months before I can really use the tv....sigh....

Right,I found out first allocation shipments should ship in the next two weeks and they're all sold out, second allocation is supposed to ship end of June and is close to being sold out. Heard they are making very little of these TVs.thanks
