I figured it would be better to link than post the same images again. Anyway, just sad that Sony couldn't deliver a set of the expected quality.
I sure hope this is a temporary QC issue for Sony. I have last year's model but want a MUCH bigger TV soon but I'll only buy something if it is under $10k. I tried Samsung but no matter how much fiddling I did, I couldn't get the motion to look as good as my Sony and my Sony doesn't compete with my old plasma but at least it is tolerable. I just couldn't watch the Samsung. I still haven't checked out the LG but I sure hope Sony makes some sort of a comeback on the quality as my choices are narrow.

I too hope that Sony improves its PQ. Fortunately, I kept my Sharp Elite 70", which is just an amazing display. Alas, it's smaller, not 4K, and the colors are not as vibrant. But guess what?! I haven't missed the richer colors! And now I have again wonderful uniform shades of gray (oh, the opening for puns here... ).

Abstract yourself!

I just ordered the xbr65x950b, big box retailer, $1,000 off MSRP with special financing. Still more than I wanted to spend but the wife actually talked me in to it. I wish OLED was further along. Taking a shot on full array local dimming, since I've always regretted buying the edge-lit "flagship" Samsung I last purchased.

Well, I decided to cancel the order. Decided it was just too much to spend as I needed three tvs in total for my new house. This does look like a beautiful set though. Maybe if it comes down a little more in the future, but for now I will save the investment for OLED in a few years.

I just got mine from Abe's of Maine. BF deal at $6k.

No dead pixels on mine, no panel light leakage, no dirt behind the screen.

Slight banding in the middle upper left part of the screen.

Panel consistency is ok, but I am coming from an XBR46HX909 that is a great monitor.

4k upscaling from an OPPO-105 is pretty amazing on the panel and motion is amazing, smooth and no jutters.

Blacks is OK compared to the HX, but good on this size panel.

I used UK HDTV's setting suggestions and it helps on blooming and banding, but off angle viewing is not as good as the HX.

Just upgraded an old sharp "non smart" TV and bought the XBR-65X950B.

The picture difference is night and day. My only disappointment is playing movies that I've stored on my Synology NAS. Fortunately I found this link: that provides file formats that are supported by the built in Media Player.

Still, no thumbnails, lag times (over gigabit wired LAN) and issues getting through long movies.

Can anyone shed any light or send some good news on what's to come. It would be great to have a PLEX app, Showtime Anytime and HBO to Go.

Best,
AP
