I pre-ordered mine from Value Electronics they said it should ship at the end of next week and I notice also Sony's website also says that now, ships 5-17-14

Great news! Let us know what you think of your new set once it arrives.

I'm curious if they charged you full SRP, l0g0s. Of course this is not the place for street price talk, but I hope they were able to cut off something from the total (well, part of me hopes Sony doesn't budge on SRP so that OLED can make some strides...looking forward to gen 2 later this year
).

I can't talk about price, all I can say is Value Electronics always takes care of me they're super nice and respectful. I sold my 70" Elite to upgrade to the 65X950B.

How is the size downgrade like? 70" to 65" ?

Once you get it, I'll be very interested in how you compare the X950B to the Sharp Elite (the Holy Grail of LED/LCD TV up to now
)

You can't even tell us if you paid MSRP or not?

I paid slightly under MSRP for being a forum member. I found out first allocation shipments should ship in the next two weeks and they're all sold out, second allocation is supposed to ship end of June and is close to being sold out. Heard they are making very little of these TVs.

Sony rep told VE these will be very limited TVs
Well, yeah... At $8k for 65" they can't expect to sell too many. Sony is spinning fairy tales if they're trying to say the TV is a limited edition with a small production run and they won't build as many as they can sell.

No man this is the only holy grail you get !

The holy grail is already here :

Toshiba ZL1 at 55" had 512 dimming zones and was the best TV in terms of local dimming along with a PVA panel with 5000:1 contrast. The Vizio this year have silly amounts of local dimming zones in comparison. (16,32,64 etc)

I'm very excited to see what people think of this set once its out in the wild and being tested by people. If the rumors are true, it might be the best LCD ever made. If so, that might make me wait till the price is more reasonable.
