I'm curious if they charged you full SRP, l0g0s. Of course this is not the place for street price talk, but I hope they were able to cut off something from the total (well, part of me hopes Sony doesn't budge on SRP so that OLED can make some strides...looking forward to gen 2 later this year wink.gif).

I can't talk about price, all I can say is Value Electronics always takes care of me they're super nice and respectful. I sold my 70" Elite to upgrade to the 65X950B.

Once you get it, I'll be very interested in how you compare the X950B to the Sharp Elite (the Holy Grail of LED/LCD TV up to now biggrin.gif)

Apparently not. Since even that is too much to ask and based on the opaque response, I'll take the answer as no. tongue.gif

Yes, we wouldn't want anyone else to find out that VE has a good price and have them get more business before his set ships out. wink.gif

I paid slightly under MSRP for being a forum member. I found out first allocation shipments should ship in the next two weeks and they're all sold out, second allocation is supposed to ship end of June and is close to being sold out. Heard they are making very little of these TVs.

Well, yeah... At $8k for 65" they can't expect to sell too many. Sony is spinning fairy tales if they're trying to say the TV is a limited edition with a small production run and they won't build as many as they can sell.

I'm curious what are you guys willing to pay on these sets or any of the other 2014 Sony 4k sets? I notice some guys are willing to pay full price even if there's a better deal out there and some of you only pay the rock bottom price.

No man this is the only holy grail you get !

The holy grail is already here :

Toshiba ZL1 at 55" had 512 dimming zones and was the best TV in terms of local dimming along with a PVA panel with 5000:1 contrast. The Vizio this year have silly amounts of local dimming zones in comparison. (16,32,64 etc)

I'm very excited to see what people think of this set once its out in the wild and being tested by people. If the rumors are true, it might be the best LCD ever made. If so, that might make me wait till the price is more reasonable.

The 65" is now in stock with Sony but I would wait until a retailer gets them so you can get a better deal.

$8k... *giggles*

I don't care how good it is. For $8k I expect a UHD OLED. One without IR/burn-in backplane problems at that.

It does seem that Sony had the 65" 4K LG WOLED n mind as the competition they were focused on when pricing the X950B.

I'll be curios on which of those two sells more panels in Q4 (assuming LG has their Gen-2 WOLEDs in all the target channels by then).

It sounds as though Sony just wanted to build enough X950Bs to deploy demo units on all the showroom floors and never really intended to actually sell any (like the 120" Vizio R biggrin.gif)

LG is hopefully being more ambitious (at their own more modest OLED scale).

Yeah, maybe they noticed on how quickly the remaining ZT/VT60s sold out once Panasonic announced that there would not be any more manufactured and thought that was a strategy they'd try to replicate biggrin.gif
