The standard game mode WITH impulse on is darker. I just bumped up my brightness to 53. I have sharpness at 33 and it's looking good from about 5 feet away.

I'm going to play some multiplayer Last of Us now and see how the lag is with and without impulse on.

Thanks for the detail! I would expect as much from a Sony TV for gaming, they are pretty much the best you can get.

I am curious on the input lag, I assume it is very good considering the last couple years of Sony but it is hard for me to purchase this one with nothing online at the moment for this series model. How about motion blur? Are you seeing any or are you familiar with what I looks/feels like?

A lot of you guys talk about the gaming aspects of this unit but gaming is the least of my concerns. 99% of my time will be with uverse, netflix, or disks on a PS3. Is this the tv for me or should I be looking at Sammy or elsewhere. (Also don't care about 3d, sound or smart. It's all about the PQ.)

They have added the "Only at Best Buy" tag to both sizes of the W700B series. Looks to be a Best Buy exclusive, which is interesting...

though i do wonder if costco will be getting a similar/same '690b' version as well. i noticed it seems that they've been clearing out their 590 (600 equivalent) sets

It would be nice since Costco does not carry any 50" or 55" Sony but I would doubt it.

You can buy the TV at Best Buy and buy the Square Trade warranty from Costco for $59 since Best Buy is an authorized US retailer.

I love it! I went through a sharp and the m series vizio before finding this one and I'm very happy I returned the others. The set seemed very dark at first and I couldn't fix it. I turned off the light sensor and still didn't help. Finally I found the eco settings and BOOM! The picture quality Really is amazing

I saw your review on Best Buy's site

Thanks for the feedback, it is helpful because I have/had the H6350 series on my radar.

Welcome to the forum!

Leo Bodnar input lag tester

We have a sales tax-free weekend in MA this month. I think I am going to go to Best Buy with my Leo-Bodnar input lag tester today or tomorrow to test the 55w700B. I will let you all know what the results are.

I have been eyeing Sony TV's all year to see if any of them have near or less than 1 frame of input lag like the KDL42W705B (European only model). Hopefully the US W7 series is similar...

That would be awesome if you could get measurements! Even if it is on the same level of the W800B at approximately 22ms, it is hard to beat, for gamers especially.

Let us know the results if you are able to test.

No way to check, just wait and see. It is close to football season hopefully there some sales coming up in the next couple weeks. I would recommend going to your local USPS and getting a "movers packet" it includes 10% off at Best Buy.

I would be surprised if it does not have optical out, it is pretty much standard nowadays, the W600B and W800B have one.

A mover's packet? Do you have to prove you're moving? I'm in BB's system at my current Amex billing address.

No, Best Buy does not care nor does USPS. Just walk into the post office and ask the clerk for one.

Here are the Best Buy terms and conditions for it.

it says that select premium TVs are excluded. Would this TV qualify as such?

exactly what are the details of this deal?

Premium TVs are usually going to Magnolia SKUs. This TV should qualify no problem.

To piggy back those looking for BB discounts, if anyone has the Best Buy store credit card, their current offer of 10% back in reward certificates would work on this TV. I believe the promotion for that ends after September 6th though, so if you are hoping to capitalize on a sale + this promotion, just be mindful of that deadline.

Think I need to head to my local post office too, from the sounds of it

The current offer of 10% off is either that or the no financing, correct?

Ya it is either 10% back in rewards or no interest financing (can't have both) for the BB credit card.

In terms of USPS movers coupon (if you get one) vs. a store-wide sale....there is no telling when a sale may occur on the W700b, but even if one were to occur, I can't imagine it'd be discounted much below 10% off, which is what the USPS overs coupon would apply.

I'm very close to picking up one of these 55" sets, and I am hoping to get a movers coupon to knock the price down to $899, then after some application of rewards certificates and gift cards I have, end up with about $70-$75 back in rewards certificates from the 10% credit card promo on the final out of pocket cost. With the movers coupon and rewards back, its an effect price of like $825, which I'd be more than happy with given the TV.

Any settings for the W800B series should be relevant.

Got my 55" version of the W700B today but I have not had much time to mess with it.

I do not think so, as I said above, I purchased one today. I do not have my wall mount yet but this model comes with "extensions" that should allow use of a VESA mount. See attached images for the "extensions".

I got to see this tv in person yesterday, and wow, it truly is an excellent set. As stated above, it comes with an adapter for wall mount brackets. I would wait to purchase it though, as the price will drop shortly.
