I was looking to purchase it, but the weird wall mounting issue (even the 800 has the same issue), with the lack of information on the display worries me.

You must not have read through this thread...The mounting issues are resolved in this model by an extension that comes in the box.

See my post.

See my post.
I did see the post, but to be honest it doesn't look very sturdy. I'll try it out anyway. I need a good display for gaming and this is probably as good as it gets for the money.

My wall mount arrives today, hopefully I will have time this evening to get it up on the wall.

I will report back, but I expect it to be fine.

Does the W700B also use the same panel as the W900A? A few users in the W800B thread suggested that that set used the W900A panel minus the quantum dots. If the 700B uses the same panel minus 3D, does that mean that it's also equivalent to the 900A?

We will probably know in a week or less time. Depending on whether they do some unannounced flash sales, a lot of Labor Day pricing is probably going to be available after the next Sunday ads. I figured I could wait until closer to Labor Day to purchase mine just to be safe, so I'll be sure to pass on any indications I may see.

Fingers are crossed but I doubt sales will be much better than the 10% moving coupon. It's worth waiting just in case...I can wait...theoretically.

think it depends on when yours was printed/circulated. i have one that's valid july - november...but it's a good call out to check the date range on the one(s) you have.

Nice! I guess I assumed they all expired on the 31st of August.

Is there a input lag test for this TV yet?

A page back. Seems close to the W800b.

I also was able to test the 55" 700B with my Leo Bodnar input lag tester (1080P signal) today. It had very similar results to the 800B model. Here are the results:

Top bar: 20.1 ms
Middle bar: 23.3 ms
Bottom bar: 26.2

Average: 23.2 ms

I did not end up purchasing it as the results are still slightly high for my tastes. I wish more of the 2014 sets had 16-17 ms of input lag like last years 802A and 900A. The only Sony model that comes close this year is the W950B (17 ms) but I have only seen terrible reviews for the picture quality on that model

Just saw this, sounds great. Anyone know if it passes 4:4:4 chroma?

I though you might be amused and/or horrified. I asked a BBuy rep by chat if she knew of any differences between the 700b and 800b. She informed me that the 800b was 3d, meaning you didn't need special glasses. On the 700b you do need special glasses since the tv didn't have it built in.

LOLOLOL!!!

My 6 year old 50" Samsung plasma died about 2 weeks ago. Initially i was leaning towards the new 55" Vizio E or M (after reading C-Net blow their load over the E series), but after reading various reviews on here and checking the Sony 700B out in person earlier this week, I plan on picking up the 55" 700B today at BB with the 10% off USPS moving packet coupon. Thanks for the heads up on that coupon, btw. I'll post a review after i get it home and have a chance to play around with it for a while...

Hey guys, new to the forum and would like to say I purchased this tv and it looks great! I'm no pro at calibration but I followed the rtings page for my ps4. The only thing I do not like about the tv is the sound, my samsung 6350 sounded better. Any help with that.

i stopped by a local bestbuy tonight to check out the 50" w700. the site said the location had them in stock, but there were none on display. when i asked the guy working there he looked it up in the system, said they had 2 (one new, one open box), and that it was showing as a deleted item and they wouldn't get any more in. not sure if that means the 'market test' is over now...but i'd think if you want a 700, you might want to pick one up soon.

Bestbuy.com shows the 55 available for pickup at our 10 closest stores. Not that it proves anything.

What?

So this means this TV will no longer be sold?

I like to do research on the next TV I will get, that last sometimes even months, only to be convinced and go to the store and to find that this particular model no longer in existence?

Damn.

I would wait and see; people are jumping the gun based off 1 comment. The set is in stock at all Best Buy's in my area, within 100 miles, and still on the end cap at my local Best Buy with a Sony sound bar.

It has only been on shelves for a couple weeks at retail price. Seems like a small sample size and no aggressive pricing to be any kind of "test product".

oh...i have no idea what this really means...just relaying something that one best buy employee showed me in their system. needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

I was looking at this model and another of a different brand name, I ended up going the 50 inch model 700B, after doing the image purity test with WOW I found an obvious dead pixel. It was upsetting because I intentionally spent more money and went with the sony because I didn't trust the other brand. The dead pixel was even noticeable on the PS4 menu screen, the hell with that!! Either way I'm glad it happened because I didnt find the black levels on this tv good at all after calibration. I also had screen uniformity issues on the bottom of the screen. I ended up returning the sony and went with the brand/model I was originally looking at, same price as the sony and its 55 inches. I couldn't be happier, and I don't notice any difference in input lag when playing battlfield 4. I wont say what brand/model I exchanged the sony for because I don't want to turn this into a VS thing but I will say this, it has local dimming.

I hope you guys have better luck

Joe5411 - would you consider posting your findings in the "help me choose" thread? That's an appropriate place for compare and contrast.

I also had a 6350 and exchanged it for the 700b. I'm happier with the Sony. What were your issues with the 6350? I did not like the picture overall, the colors weren't good to my eyes, and the shadow details weren't very good.

I am wondering as well about the panasonic TC-55AS680U vs the 55 700b. I went to best buy today and looked at the 50 700b and the TC-55AS680U, they both looked amazing. I couldnt choose. right now the TC-55AS680U is priced at $999 right now along with its claimed native 240hz panel makes it VERY appealing. I wish I could find the input lag specification on it.

Concerning the Panasonic, I understand that the step down AS530 doesn't have a dedicated Game mode so if that is important to you, due diligence on the model is key.

The Sony is probably the better gaming TV with respect to input lag if I had to guess.
