Probably Sony is beginning to make some space for UHD 4K TVs to be released later on in the year. From what I think.

I'm starting to build a home theater. Right now. 0%, it's still a thought now.

For those who are interested, 11.1 receiver, and Dolby Atmos enabled speakers. Can't trust wall mounts. :(

No mention of it here: http://store.sony.com/54.6-diag-w950...ll-Sony-HD-TVs
I ordered mine in June and it was back ordered.
It came in July, with a May build date.

This looks like a compatibility problem with the Australia market due to the 100 Hz verses 120 Hz.
This is their current lineup: http://www.sony.com.au/bravia-lcd-tv...0BW700B/584328

The few reviews that were released were less than stellar. Coming from the W900A 2013,the W950B had a lot to live up to. The change from a Samsung VA panel and dimming scheme to LG IPS and dimming (very few zones) performance outside of bright room seemed less than ideal. I saw them plummet in price quickly at retailers.

And yet as an owner, who uses one on a moderately dim room, the performance is quite impressive.
The room reflections off the screen and the off axis drop in PQ would be my complaints.

YMMV

I have seen them in stores and was actually fairly impressed with it's performance. Throwing it in cinema mode and making a few tweaks from settings found online it blew away the LG LB7100 next to it in ISF mode. I know the store is no "real" judge of PQ,but it's a quick test.

I'm never sure what to make of "reviews".
I checked a number of them for TVs in this price range and every model's "review" had some weakness.
I'm not saying the W950B is the best in its price range, but that my own "impression" of it doesn't seem to match the reviews and posts in the other thread.
I never saw the W950A for a comparison and my "reference" was a 46" XBR2, so the W950B is a noticeable improvement.

As i said its 4k. Its not in the same leaugue. But of every brand that x900b is getting great reviews. The 800b is 600 dollars cheaper and performs better. So money means nothing

They are still available on Sony's U.S site and still for $2000 plus. To high of an asking price for an under performing tv that never lived up to the hype that Sony heaped upon it. In my opinion it was a step back from the 55W900A. Not a bad tv while watching it during the day but at night is where you saw the flaws. Sad really because Sony could have built on the success of the W900 with the 950B but they were to concerned with 4K.

Sony's US site shows $ 1,599.99 [in the link I posted earlier] and I got mine for $1,349.
I'm not going to argue the 55W900A may be a better TV.
I don't work for Sony or own any stock in Sony.
For what I spent and got, I don't see why so many are trashing this model.
For $2000+, I'd expect more.

veryoldschool, I aint trashing the w950b. I just think Sony dropped the ball on it because it should have rivaled the W900 or dare I say maybe even bettered it in some ways, but that wasn't the case. If you and others like it and are enjoying it that's all that matters in the end.

I didn't mean to mix you up with some of the other posters, and if I did, please excuse me for it.
I have no doubt Sony could have done better, but good luck finding a KDL-55W900A for $1,999.99 these days.
What could have or should have isn't what "I can have" and maybe my question might be: Would it have been worth another 50% for what I don't have?
As much as I wanted last year's Sony, the price held me back.
I started with a KDL-48W600B for $600 this year and thankfully the two I got were defective and a 3rd went back ordered so I "had to" change to this 55-W950B, which it turned out went back ordered too at the time, but I could hold onto the last 600B to watch while waiting.

Are there things about it I wish were better?
Sure, but there are more things I like than not and $1349.99 made it even more attractive.

"YMMV"

I understand where your coming from. I know the price for the W900 was expensive at the time but trust me the W9 was worth what Sony was asking for it. When I bought my W9 back in May the price had dropped a $1000 because of the arrival of the W950B and I never have regretted the money spent. In fact if I had known the W9 was as good as it still is I would have spent more because the tv is spectacular. But that's just me.

I wish I could have compared a Triluminos and not side by side.
"I can say" this triluminos is gorgeous.
I may be trading "blacks" for colors, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I really dont get the negative over 950B. Ive got the 65" version and im comming from a Samsung 64F8500. Sure it dosent have the blacks of it, but im not really missing a thing.

Im glad I didnt follow the reviews, because its quite a nice tv.
