Panasonic TH-50AS700Z backlight off on black scenes transitions?

I just bought a TH-50AS700Z (50 inch LCD) and I've gone through and turned all the "features" off but there's one thing I can't figure out how to fix. The backlight turns off completely when the media I'm playing is 100% black. So I see it lots in TV shows, games, movies (especially scene transitions) and it's really distracting.

Does anyone know how to turn this off?

Edit: Unless I can turn this off I will return the TV, and I'm 99% sure it can't be disabled because I have looked everywhere. If I display a black picture with my PC and then move the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen, but leave the mouse at least partially on screen the light still turns off. So, I've bought a TV which doesn't actually display the picture that it's receiving. The mouse cursor is on screen, but the backlight is turning complete off. This is the **** that we have to deal with since Panasonic retired the plasma production lane. Bravo, Panasonic, bravo.
