It's not available in the us yet I would take a look at this thread if interested. It includes reviews of the Japanese version and other information about it.

Toshiba 4K 65L9400/65Z9X and Vizio 65" Reference Series 10-bit Panel

The thread is relevant it's mostly speculation. Keep in mind that the Japanese version is called Regza. Yes agree the translations are poor, but at this point no one knows what we will get because toshiba will likely strip some features when it arrive here. It isn't for sale yet althought you can pre order. The set is listed on amazon and Mac mall has it for as low as 2900 which may be the launch price assuming 3496 is msrp. Honestly it's a waiting game

i don't blame you it was supposed to arrive this summer around june, but it ended up in japan first in june. no word of this set at this point and its suppose to release soon of course like you im suspicious. many suspect this is their last year making tvs, but like i said you'll just have to wait and see the websites received a expected date possibly from the manufacturer. i wouldn't count on it until they show up thought. i believe it will show eventually or amazon and all these other places wouldn't have listed it. now as far as performance no one knows what were getting, quite honestly this set can make or break them after how poorly last years set did.

And exactly why has Vizio begun to get on your nerves? I'm pretty impressed with how well they have managed expectations this year (expectation which they have generally succeeded to overdeliver against). The R Series is still a big wild-card since they have kept a very tight lip on allowing any expectations to be set for 8 months now (other than 'before the end of this year')

Toshiba looks like they be descending into oblivion (at least as far as their presence in the US TV market) - the L7400U was a huge disappointment and the developing pattern with the L9400U is not inspiring confidence...

Toshiba looks bad I do not trust them ( Lying Customer Service )
Full Array LED panels with Quantum Black™ Local Dimming not serious
40+ zones for 65" not good

No one knows how many zones it will have and toshiba isn't the first to be tight lipped about the zone count. My guess is vizios transparency has them a bit embarrassed. Especially due to the fact the R series it has more zones than sonys x950b. They others won't say, because it's probably just as low and they're charging 6 figures for some of these sets. So most of us here understand your frustration. I think if your patient the r series will be well worth the wait.

Should be soon. Toshiba has added them to their USA website as coming soon. Hopefully someone can start an Official Owners thread to better answer you questions. They are listed on Amazon, Beach Cameras and ABT and will hopefully show up in Costco. It looks like they have added internal H.265 decoding. They have dropped the official MAP to $3299, but you should be able to find it easily for $2900 or less after launch.

Looks like they are finally in stock at ABT. Don't want to put link because there is a price and that is against AVS rules. Also, it looks like Amazon moved them from 1-3 months away to 1-2 months. MAP has fallen to $3299, but should be easy to find under $2800 and with OLED dropping so fast, I would think more price drops are due in short order. Should be an awesome 4K gaming display is the 10ms lag marketing claim pans out.

Reading thru the manual, no mention is made of HDMI 2.0.....

They do indicate HDCP 2.2 on one of the ports, but they are indicating HDMI 1.4 as the HDMI format? Am I missing something, or did Toshiba miss???

I believe all 4 ports are 2.0, they just wrote it in a confusing way.
