UNxxES8000 exchange for UN65H7150AFXZA or XBR65X850B
Hello,
My UNxxES8000 65" TV paid $3,000 for it on 6/1/2012, is a goner and the place where I bought it wants to give me UN65H7150AFXZA for it or $2,100.00 for it toward an upgrade.. Maybe the XBR65X850B?
Is UN65H7150AFXZA better than UNxxES8000?
Or what TV should I get?

Dang, that's pretty generous that the place you bought it would give you a trade in for a 2 year old out of warranty product. Was it because of an extended warranty?

Just an FYI the 7100 (Costco version and exactly the same with TH panel) is going to be $1500 closer to Black Friday....you can get the flyer online and might be worth mentioning to your dealer as they might throw something else in or something. But yes that is generous and must be the extended warranty thing.
That all being said I have the 7150 65" and its fantastic!
Thanks,
Yes extended warranty swap.... Thanks for the input... Am I getting screwed I think, since I boughtop of the line TV when it came out and now they want to give me a lower cost TV?
Or should I upgrade to a different TV?
You bought the ES8000 near the top of its price because it was still pretty new. I think I paid $2700 in 10/12 for mine. It sounds like a really good deal, and the 7100 is similar in features to the ES8000 (3D, four HDMI ports, etc) isn't it? What extended warranty did you buy?
Yes, that is a great deal.. Jump on it.. The 7150 has the Cinema Black option that dims the LEDs down in the letterbox bars of movies (activated from within the Movie picture options).. The 2012 es8000 was the only year not to have this option. Plus a lot of ES series panels suffered from hot spots in the corners and banding. The older D series had Cinema Black and the newer F series has it. The only ES series model that had Cinema Black was the overpriced 75es9000.. You made out good.
I don't know where you bought the TV and warranty but Best Buy just gave me the full amount that i payed for my 55D8000 which came to $2700, so sound like there may be a little negotiation room. Ask for the UN65HU8550 I love mine!
I guess my question back to you would be...what are your options? What are the terms of the warranty? If its supposed to be like for like...then the 7150 may be a little less, but again I love my 7150. If they say refund the $ you paid "or" a comparable TV then take the cash if you have the option.
As mentioned find out what the terms of the warranty are...weigh them out and then decide. Many extended warranties say "like" model as models are rarely the same 2 or 3 years after you purchase, so this makes it hard.
What are the terms of the warranty? I would go talk to the store manager, tell him what you have read that his competitors are doing in regards to their 4 year warranty and what will make you feel whole at the end of the day. Worst case is what you've already been offered, but it may get better, but it won't if you don't ask.
