I got this TV in on Monday 3/2. I am waiting to mount this bad boy until I have everything I need on hand to hide the wires and what not. In the mean time I have been testing the picture using an antenna. I can see this set having great potential and looks very solid after my own tweaking, but I still have some minor issues I would love if someone could help me fix.

Blotchy/Grainy black and dark content. (This is only noticeable in SOME black or dark content, other times the darker sections look deep and seamless)

Consistent color transitions. (For example, light red fading to dark red shows "sections of fade" rather than being a smooth color transition, again only sometimes)

Some color bleeding (Skin and other similar content can be over taken by a redish hue, again only sometimes)

How can I make the colors seem a touch more vibrant without creating color bleed. (In comparing to my 46" Sharp from 09, the Sharp handles more vibrant colors without color bleed. Setting the Sony to not have any color bleed leaves it feeling a bit drab)

I know it sounds like a lot of issues, but they are all minor in nature. It would just be nice to have these areas perfected.

Here are my settings:

Picture Mode: Standard
Backlight: 5
Picture: 90
Brightness: 20
Color: 62
Hue: 0
Sharpness: 10
Color Temperature: Neutral
Noise Reduction: Off
MPEG Noise Reduction: Off
Motionflow: Off
CineMotion: Off
Adv. Contrast Enhancer: Off
Black Corrector: Off
Gamma: +1
Clear White: Off
Live Color: Off
LED Motion Mode: Off

Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone, I must say this TV is amazing! I noticed everyone here has their own personalized profile, but it seems to exaggerate way too much on colors! A wonder tool that some people may have are the new iPad airs, which have very close to accurate color fxphd.com/blog/just-how-good-is-the-ipads-color

The biggest issue with this TV is the reds, they are slightly off. Because of that, the best image to calibrate your screen, is this one below:

mrshustle.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/desktop10.jpg

Take your iPad and compare that image to your TV, you may notice it's completely off! Here are the settings I used to get the display as close as possible to accuracy of brightness and contract, to colors similar to the iPad on full brightness. You can test it out before changing your settings, simply change the Picture mode from anything you want other than the current one you are using... all of the settings are saved on the picture mode itself.

Backlight: I keep this at 3, but some may want it at at-least 5.
Picture:80
Brightness:70
COlor:46
Hue:G3
SHarpness:2
Color Temperature: Nuetral
Gamma -3

This TV has way too much gamma, so you should keep it at -3. If you look at lagom.nl/lcd-test/gamma_calibration.phpgamma -3 at these settings makes it close as possible to perfect Gamma as 2.1 is almost fully blended.

If you are using a PC, it is very important to change your color range from limited to full as the reds will not look very accurate if left on limited.

Now, change your picture mode from whatever you just set it to, then back to whatever you had. You should see a much more noticeable difference between the two.

Every TV is different, so my settings may not work as well for you.

Sorry, I don't see an edit button on my post.

But one thing I should point out, my settings may looks less colorful. But you'll notice in the comparison of the red lipstick model, when you have a more colorful settings you're losing a lot of detail; this is because you're using an over-saturated setting that is not true color.
