I am going to also add the lower line Sharp, if only because it is so much cheaper. Granted, you get what you pay for... but when I add in the factor that doesn't matter what tv I get.. my eyes and my wallet, it is a worthy add.
- VIZIO M801i-A3 = 80 inch, LED, 240hz. 2014's (model
#A ... 2013 is model
#B ) do not have 3D. Price = $2,999... or $2,899 at Costco
- Samsung UN75H7150 = 75 inch, LED, 240hz, 3D. Price = $2,850 - $3,000 depending on location
- Sharp LC-80LE650U = 80 inch, LED, 120hz, no 3D. Price = $2,299 on Amazon with recent price drop.
- Sharp LC-80UQ17= 80 inch, LED, 240hz, 3d. Price = $4,497 on Amazon.. didn't look elsewhere.
All 4 seem to be about equally reviewed. AVSForum probably likes the Samsung's a bit better than the Vizio's. My gut feel is that the public woudl rate the Sharp non-Q series the worst, but a true 80 incher, fully 1080p for $2,300 is impressive. The Q series Sharp seems out of whack price wise, but I included since OP asked about it.
I have 3D on my 4 year old plasma... but never use it. Of course, the kids are just entering the age where they might find it useful (oldest is 5), but most of our movies are streamed either from itunes or Netflix. Does Netflix do 3D?
Does 120hz vs. 240hz make a huge difference? At this size? I watch a lot of basketball?
How much more will I appreciate 80 inches over 75 inches? If I was truly not a picture snob, and coudl live with 75 inches, Samsung is discounting their 6350 series for black friday, so their 75 inch 6350 series is only $1,999 right now.
I don't care a ton about the smart tv options. A bit, but I'm so tied into AppleTV now I just use that.
Decisions, decisions... anyone with any thoughts????
