replacing old panasonic 9UK...VIZIO E500i-B1 or Samsung UN50HU8550
I'm looking to upgrade our aging 42" Panasonic 9UK. Yes I know that comparing the VIZIO E500i-B1 vs Samsung UN50HU8550 may seem a bit odd, but I'm wondering exactly which display is a best value. I'm not big on smartTV features or sound, so PQ and reliability is about it for me. From what I've read so far the Vizio is the best value winner. Yes the HU8550 has a better PQ, but at $550 vs $1600 I don't see it worth THAT much
. This is for general family use in our living room, not a dedicated HT or anything like that. Plus if the display craps out unexpectedly past the warranty period, losing $550 is easier to deal with than losing $1600. At $550 I am more likely to get a new display in 5 yrs. When it's near the $2K price range...10 yrs.
What do you say? It's been a while since I've shopped around for a new display.
