Actually i'm looking for here if anyone can compare these new JU series (JU7500 curved and JU7100 flat) to 65HU8550.
I think someone already confirmed that JU7500 is a 10-bit panel which is great but hate curved one and at Samsung nobody knows JU7100 has a 8 or 10-bit panel?
Price point they are close to 8550 series and new models if some advances there i rather go and purchase one of these but not much info out there.
Anyone know advantage or disadvantage between JU series to what we have hu8550

8550 has a 10 bit panel as does the ju7100 the advantage is ju7100 has quantum dots and peak illuminator also pur colour and contrast enhancer

Yes they have quantum dots on the JS models and not JU models. Seems like JS models $4000 and $5000 for 55" and 65" sizes. That is too much i think.
seriously go to samsungs site ju are listed with nano crystal colour which is quantum dots also peak illumination is on available on quantum dots..The article says

aside from the JS9500, there will be the JS9000 which has almost the same features as the flagship but has the Pro Peak Illuminator rather than the Ultimate version and doesn't have a direct backlight, so Precision Black rather than the Pro version. The JS8500 has almost the same features as the JS9000 but loses the One Connect box and has quad-core processing instead. The JU7500 has similar features to the JS8500 but has the Peak Illuminator rather than the Pro version, whilst the JU7000 is a flat screen version of the JU7500, so it's the same except it doesn't have Auto Depth Enhancer and has the Contrast Enhancer instead.

...Once again Samsung sites says nano crystal colour on specs also http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/UN65JU7500FXZA

This thread got really bogged down that I'm not sure what to believe lol. I am in the market for a new TV as my old one has died on me. So I will be looking to purchase one within the next 3 weeks, max. Back to the thread topic/subject. Right now, the UN65HU8550 is running around $3k. It seems like that new JU7100 will be sold for $2800. Is it worthwhile to wait for the 7100 or should I just pick up an 8550 today? Would the 7100 be the comparable set (in the 2015 lineup) to what the 8550 was (for 2014)? Thank you for any help!

I just finished returning a 8550 to BB b/c like most are finding out they now only have the QS04 CMO panels. This TV had the worst led bleed i've seen ... ever. My 55'' sammy didnt have half of the bleed and its 5 years older. Anywho... The real question is if the new JU7100's have the Quantum Dots... some have said the "Peak Illuminator" means it does... other say only the SUHD models have it as they point out they have "Nano Crystal Color". So which is it? Do they both have it and its just a matter of marketing lingo? Since I returned my 8550 i couldn't go without a TV so i purchased a Samsung 75" H6300 to tide me over until i could research the newer models more. Outside of the 7100's being "new" what else would there be to attract folks if they end up not having the new Quantum Dot displays???

Is the "Ultra Clear Panel Pro" a semi-gloss screen? I would prefer a glossy screen as it gives more pop in my opinion and a plasma feel. I find it a tad ridiculous that a "blue film over nano crystals" is all that separates the 9500's HDR capability from the 7500. Throw in the damn film and give all you r sets HDR. These F**'ing games every year!

Anyone know if the Panasonic CX850 or whatever is going to top this 7500 on the spec sheet? Is there going to be HDR and or FALD? I can't trust Vizio's R series to equal the hype or even come out at this point and I'm desperately wanting FALD with HDR. Also, does nano crystals provide for both WCG and HDR? If so I don't understand how a TV with nano crystals would not be HDR by default. FRom what I can discern, Sony could have skipped this year all together as it looks like some re -gifting going on.

I am debating SAMSUNG new UN65JU7100 versus 2014 model UN65HU8550.

1. Any reasons to wait for 2015 model UN65JU7100 or just buy 2014 model UN65HU8550?

2. Currently, it looks like 2014 model UN65HU8550 will be $700-1000 cheaper than 2015 model UN65JU7100.

3.Any suggestions new model with new features can justify the $700-1000 difference ?

4. Also, Samsung versus Sony 2015 model XBR65X850C ?

I have been following this thread, and it really does get more confusing by the day. My son wants a 75" UHD flat screen NOT curved. His budget is $5-6k. I have been trying to get him to wait a few more months till the dust settles. He really is leaning towards the Sammy but it seems like the competition is just on the horizon with their latest breakthroughs.

Doesn't the HU75UN8500 use a golf chipset and is therefore 10 bit vs the newer 65 inch and below which I heard are only capable of the 8 bit....

#103 · (Edited)
there is only one version of this 60 inch panel which is made by Sharp and mine uses the golf chipset.
I know because I went into the service menu and saw it there.

To get into the service menu power off from on,
then press mute, then press numbers 1,8,2
then press power button again

It is also the version that Cnet reviewed and it doesn't mention anything about versions.

4K performance: The 60-inch Samsung performed as expected with 4K sources. The best-quality test clip I have, "The Ultra Definition showcase" from Florian Friedrich and available at UHDcontent.eu, looked great. Its shots of a beachside town, animals and mountains were equal in quality to anything I've seen, and looked as pristine as ever on the HU8550.

this is for the 60 inch.
it doesn't mention 10 bit.
does that mean its not 10 bit?

It sounds to me like the 8550 is still the better bet right now? From what I have read you are still playing the 8 and 10 bit panel lottery between the two sets... Why not just try to grab a TS01 8550 and replace the board if need be? Too much speculation on if QD's are available on the 7100 and what bit panels are there. eeesh... This is really making my decision on tv buying even more indecisive lol...

#107 ·
Nope. Right now the 7100 is better. From New owner feedback the processing has been GREATLY improved. Along with the new motione method samsung is using. The new ocb for the 8550 will probably bring the picture quality to about equal, but I think the motion on the ju7100 will still trump the 8550 because it uses the much preferred BFI method which makes cleaner motion.

#108 ·
I don't see any mention of the one-connect box on the 7100 specs. It doesn't use it?

Also, I think it was another thread but somebody kept saying the 7100 uses quantum dots. I see no indication that it does on their site; I'm sure they'd trumpet it loud and clear if so.

Hey guys, I'm thinking about upgrading my 2012 55 ES8000.. I'm thinking of getting the 2014 evo kit (I had the 2013 evo kit) but I'm also considering either the 65 HU8550 now that it's down to about $2000 (if I can find any local BB stores that have them yet) or the new 65 JU7100 (when it's available), but there aren't any reviews out yet. Any suggestions?

#139 ·
I will say, Ray-- and this comment DOES have some good-natured snark in it--- that per your own link, in the Q/A-comments at the bottom, the reviewer actually INSTRUCTS people to choose the HU8500 over the JU7100, if the 8550 is cheaper, since the picture quality is "identical". This certainly doesn't help the decision making process!

Been agonizing aboutwhether to get a UN65HU8550 or wait until the 2015 models get reviewed & price drops a bit from launch craziness- price slashing of the HU8550 to about $2K making it REALLY hard to hold off. I missed out on the End-of-life fire sale for the final round of good plasma sets in 2014 & kicked myself for languishing in analysis-paralysis, feels like I'm in the same spot again.
