Samsung has HDMI 2.0. Use "high speed"/cat 2 cables. Standard cables are only other version. High speed/cat 2 have been required beginning with HDMI 1.4. http://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_2_0/index.aspx

You're talking about an IR Blaster, not an IR Sensor, the later of which every TV made in the past few decades has
Yupp. You are right. I realized after posting it and I was already in bed. Thanks for correcting me

That's an excellent observation. There are gaps at the top and bottom that should facilitate airflow, but I forgot to put my hand behind the set to see how hot it got. If need be, I could install a couple of low flow fans to assist. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

HDMI 3 supports HDCP 2.2. I was able to connect the Sony FMP-X10 to it and it works like a charm.

(DISCLAIMER: I haven't yet watched a full movie. So I can't say if there are any audio/video drops. But the shorter clips, up to 10mins worked great!).

That's the 88". The layout was originally designed for the 85" Sony with a bit extra margin, which turned out to be just enough for the Samsung!

Definitively! I made that mistake last year already with the Sony! Fortunately, it was just moved to the office where it was going to end its days as a conference display. Did I ever under appreciate what I had! Using the Elite in a that kind of setting is blasphemy!

Event now, I think the Samsung has more clouding when Smart LED is turned off, but nothing as bad as what the Sony had. With Smart LED is set to Low, uniformity becomes excellent. No dead pixels spotted so far either. For now, this set is a winner!

The screen itself seems to run quite cool, I can't really find any warm spots on the back even after a full evening on. Most of the grunt work seems to be done by the UCB which can get a bit toasty.

When I stopped caring about super quiet: E5 1680v2 @ 4.5Ghz, 980ti, i750 SSD - JS9500 & Dell P2715Q for dual 4k@60 because reasons
SAN shares over 56Gb infiniband, microcenter + fleabay = severe risks to my wallet

Was at my local Chicago Magnolia and they had a couple 78JS9500s at the store (not displayed). Like OneStepAhead experienced - $15,000 and I could take one home, no discount.

Fortunately the Sony 75x940C is due to arrive in the warehouse May19 and stores the week after. I know this is a JS9500 thread, but a lot of would-be early adopters will be walking out the door with Sonys if Samsung doesn't get their head screwed on straight with pricing for the 78"...

Just come back quick with lots of hands on impressions! I was at Best Buy again today checking it out(65 inch). I'm semi close to pulling the trigger. They had the LG OLED set up in Magnolia too...looks amazing but I don't see that price coming down to earth anytime soon. When will the 65 inch OLED drop to 5 grand you think? I figure it's at 9 now. The flat model might be 8500. When could we see $5000?

I'm using Monoprice RedMere 18Gbps cables. Nice thing about these thin cables is they don't put any strain on the HDMI ports.

When your shelling out this much for a TV i suppose the cost of cables is moot. I used to be a big fan of monoprice but lately Ive had so many of their cables stop working or fall apart. I've now moved to Amazon for cables and prime shipping.

Sony XBR-75Z9D + Samsung 78JS9500 + LG 65OLEDC6P + 55EC9300 + 55EA8800 OLED

I too default to amazon whenever the price is close, however, when the price is not close and there is no evidence of higher quality; then at that point you're just supporting higher profit margins and in effect not helping other consumers control the market.

I think of it like going one more block to get gas .01 cents a gallon cheaper. I know its not going to make a real difference in my families operating budget, but at least I am being a responsible capitalist. Its that mentality got me a 75JU7500 for under $3000.

What I find truly shocking is that you would give your Business to ANYONE that would even suggest a thing after they were garnering an enormous profit from a $23K TV he was looking to put his hands in your wallet for an obscene amount MORE. For God's sake you can buy a dedicated PTP T1 Line for less than that versus a $10 cable? Insane!

Having been a Professional Purchasing Manager spending Millions during my Career on Technology/Communications and other goods/services that Vendor would have been immediately cancelled and black listed as a Vendor PERIOD and privately an F YOU Buddy.

Vendors are a dime a dozen but you never want to deal with someone looking to STEAL from you! This isn't like adding a pair of socks or a tie to an outfit. This is obscene and should never be enabled and pandered to.

Enjoy your TV though but I would never deal with such a Vendor in my work or Home - I was mandated to have at least three competitive bids on everything I purchased and were anything like this attempted they'd be disqualified and blacklisted PERIOD!

Yes, I found it amusing to say the least. He knows not try that again but I honestly can't blame him for giving it a shot in the first place as we had not interacted until I placed my order over the phone which was when he suggested it. Pretty funny though when I asked him how much the carbon whatever cable was and he told me.
