How many of you owners use Movie mode for both SDR and HDR? At one point I used Movie mode, which was professionally calibrated to Rec.709 for 1080p. I would adjust some settings to accommodate 4k HDR. I than started to use Standard mode (all energy efficiency turned off) for all 4K UHD viewing with custom settings, Dynamic Contrast (Medium) and Gamma at (+2), all other settings are set to what Movie mode has. That way I did not have to keep going into the menu and making adjustments on what content I was viewing. My question is, is Standard mode ok to use as long as all energy efficient settings are turned off and pretty much all other settings are set correctly (color temp, picture controls)?

EDIT: Found an old post that says Standard mode will work fine with HDR.

Is there a way to confirm that the television is using HDR when playing a UHD Blu-ray or streaming from Amazon? Apologies if this has been covered earlier in the thread.

Among other things, backlight and contrast will switch to 100 and 20.
When you pause Amazon it should say UHD HDR towards the lower left of the screen near the timeline (or HD HDR if your internet connection isn't fast enough).

Thanks. Amazon does show both HDR and Ultra HD.

Well, since it doesn't look like Samsung is going to offer an across the board series upgraded mini for our tv, do you think folks would take advantage of sending their box in to have it upgraded on a case by case basis if Samsung offered that service?

Flickering line issue - problem with multiple Samsung TV's
I have that line issue in Game Mode as well. It doesn't always happen to me though. Also, it tends to occur when the image in the game is black, so I don't notice in some games.

I thought the whole purpose of the mini connect break out box was so we could upgrade ports on our TV's without getting a new TV?

in theory, yes. It's also a way to remote the connections for some installations.

Well if Samsung isn't going to update our mini connect why'd they even bother with it?

The idea of the mini connect is to be able to update just the ports that connect a/v to the TV. There isn't any current need to replace the current set of ports.

With the new HDMI 2.1 spec just announced, this may change. But I doubt that Samsung will make this available.

The whole idea of the separate box in general didn't make much sense for just port upgrades. Usually by the time a new HDMI standard is actually out most people are replacing the TV. HDMI 1.4 was out for 4-5 years before 2.0 came along. The only time it would make sense is with the upgrade to a newer CPU/OS, but even then the upgrade would have to be cheap enough, since you could just buy a $60 Chromcast 4K.

Any patch notes or anything? I'm looking on the site now, and I see the firmware, but there are no notes or anything posted.

Unfortunately, Samsung never really says what is included in the firmware updates. They always say the same thing. "Improved usability 1. Improved browser performance 2. Improved app performance 3. Improved stability 4. Improved usability of input devices"
